Family,

Just a quick message to say that I (Speeakz) am going on holiday for a 2 weeks as of today!!!

A couple homies and I are off to sunny Cali for a much needed, well deserved holiday. We’re heading to Los Angeles and then moving on to San Francisco…So beyond excited! Never been to the Westcoast before, so am looking forward to seeing what these great cities have on offer. Hit us up with some recommendations!

Don’t worry though PinBoard isn’t going anywhere, it will remain as active as it normally is, only for the next 2 weeks it’ll be run by my co-pilot Shan (@shanphearon) and dope contributors S.H.E (@S_H_E_) & Danny (@Def_Danny). These guys/gals know exactly what they’re doing and have more musical knowledge between them to rival most music fiends. So, follow them on twitter if you’re not already and make sure you keep coming back to PinBoard as normal.

As for me – I’ll see you guys on the other side. I’ll post some snaps of my travels when I get back!

Much love & continuous thanks,

Speeakz

Not an album track, but something new regardless. I know a lot of people are still unaware of what Black Milk does – if this applies to you, I implore you to check out his last album Tronic. After one listen, you’ll be a fan. His new album Album of the Year drops June 27th.

Man of the moment Tinie Tempah performs his brand new (and quite frankly brilliant) new single ‘Frisky’ at Radio 1′s Big Weekend. Tinie also performed his massive number 1 ‘Pass Out’ – soon as that finds its way on the internets, I’ll post it up.

I’ve largely ignored Robin Thicke since he dropped his latest album, this track and video hasn’t really made me regret that decision. Eh.

Still not 100% behind this track, but the video makes me like it a little more. Actually, let me rephrase that, that chick makes me like it a little more haha. Nah, it’s not a bad song, it just reminds me too much of something that could have been found on 808′s & Heartbreak. “Over” remains my tune and video though.

Very cool to see these two on a track together…

I don’t get why folks are hating on this track? She sounds incredible on it, don’t ever get it twisted, Miss Aguilera is one of the best singers of our generation. She’s been working it out for over 10 years and of course, new artists have come through – but that’s ok? I never understood when people act like there isn’t enough room for everyone? It’s ok to like GaGa AND Rihanna AND Christina AND Beyonce – you don’t have to choose.

…Great performance.

I fondly remember meeting Ra-Re Valverde in London back in 2008 – at the time PinBoard was still a fledging blog and Miss Valverde blessed us with some time for an interview. We had a great chat covering just about everything – music, life, relationships, the future and more – if you haven’t already, take a dive into our archives and read the interview.

…But back to the subject at hand – Ra-Re sent over her brand new video for a new track called “Because” – a stirring, haunting track featuring Valverde’s distinguishable vocals. I re-visit her debut album frequently, simply because I adore her voice so much – this track is a departure from what is featured on A Beautiful Mess – it’s a good departure, I’m loving this.

Pretty sure all this talk of Bey and Kelly disliking each other started on some gossip blog, but Kelly felt the need to defend her friendship with her fellow DC-3 members saying “we don’t hate each other”. The reporter mentioned Beyonce releasing her new (unexpected) video just as Rowland dropped her new single – to which she replied “everyone’s putting stuff out, Ciara puts something out, GaGa puts something out”.

…Not buying this supposed beef to be honest. Some people are saying “they haven’t been seen together for months now” – erm, I don’t see some of my friends for weeks at a time – thank goodness we have something called – the phone! They might not be in the same place, but that’s not to say they’re not speaking? Really. But then, on the flipside, you never know what goes on behind closed doors, but for now – I remain blissfully optimistic lol.

Rap-Up TV goes behind the scenes of Kelly Rowland’s “Commander” video where she discusses the concept behind the video and some of the looks she’s going for. Rowland’s new single, produced by Satan himself David Guetta is currently generating a lot of  buzz online with pretty much everyone reacting positively to it.

…I’m definitely happy that Kelly is getting the kudos she needs and while I was definitely one of the sceptic’s impressed with the new single, I still can’t get behind this euro-pop/dance sound she’s going for. I like the single, but would I ever buy it? Nope. Would I buy an album like it? Nope. Kelly sounds great on “Commander”, no doubt, but there’s absolutely no denying she sounds a billion times better on an R&B track. I pray someone does an R&B/Hip Hop remix of this track – now that would be fire.

Peace, Love & Kelly Rowland

Brand new Ciara and she’s getting her sexy on…

Download: Ciara – “I Run It”

Wooooo, Ciara’s getting her Janet on here – I’ll be damned. Unsure whether or not this will be on Ci-Ci’s new album, but it’s definitely new. Having never really been that into any of Ciara’s previous material, I must say – she’s impressing me a lot with this new music. Loving this sexy, sultry slow jam, and still think “Ride” is a massive jam (despite it’s ghetto ass video – although, I’m not really mad about that either lol). Sounds like Basic Instinct is shaping up to be a pretty good LP!

Peace, Love & Ciara

P.s The song left me no choice but to use that picture. Yeah…
