This is just too much!!! As you can see Kanye has gone and got himself a mullet. A f*ckin mullet? LOL! I can only imagine this is another case of too many “yes men” around, but for what ever reason (and don’t be claiming “fashion” or that it looks good cozit’s neither!) it’s not a good look. Sorry. Anyways, KanYe performed at the inauguration ball too – I haven’t looked, but hopefully I’ll find some footage of that too.
Peace, Love & Mullet.

This is a pretty big deal and so I feel deserves a post.
More than 100 pages of the issue, including the cover, will feature images of black women taken by the acclaimed New York based photographer Steven Meisel.
The pictures will be accompanied by articles on successful black women in arts and entertainment.
The move is in reaction to recent anger over the reluctance of fashion magazines to feature black models on their covers. Many industry insiders claim black girls are not used because they just “do not sell”. [Source]

Everyone (no matter colour or creed) knows that this type of decision is big. The fashion industry has for many years discriminated models ‘of colour’ (and I mean of all colour!) and so this decision to feature only black models is not just bold, but also an important step for the fashion world.
Big props to Italian Vogue!

The PinBoard crew touched base and interviewed Mickey Factz last week…We wanted to get to know the man behind the music, the dude behind the fashion statements and the guy who’s music we’ve been rinsing all this time! We wanted to showcase his talent and his movement. So, here he is - Itz Mickey!
You’ll also find two brand new joints from Mickey Factz at the bottom of this post!
Name/Age/Hometown
The name is Mickey Factz, I’m 22 years old and I hail from the birthplace of Hip Hop, The Bronx.
So, what/who exactly is Mickey Factz?
Mickey Factz stands for the evolution of Hip Hop. I’m not the saviour, I’m not the resurrector. I’m merely the man to jump start the forward process of music in general. My name derives from Mickey Knox of Natural Born Killers and his love for Mallory. Hip Hop is Mallory. Factz is all I rap about. My music is a taste of what the future sounds like.
Tell us a little bit about GFCnewyork?
GFCnewyork is a company I helped co-found with Saint, Steve-O and Kwazz. We are the owners of the ever growing Marketing/Consulting/Branding firm. We are all family with the same mindset: Bringing culture back to the art forms of Music, Fashion, Art and Film.
You’re all over the Internet right now, you’ve been featured in a bunch of publications AND have appeared on BET’s ‘Spit Your Game’ series…What are you feeling right now? How are you finding the response your music is getting?
I’m feeling like Bill Gates right after he left Harvard. He knew he had a goldmine. His peers and scholars scoffed and laughed at him. Now look at em. I’m in a position where I can transcend lifestyle with music. The response to the music is beyond excellent. The fact that people no longer diss the music, but they diss everything else, let’s me know I’m on the right path.
At the moment, we’re seeing a huge influx of underground, ‘new wave’ hip hop artists/acts getting a lot of attention [i.e. The Cool Kids, Kidz In The Hall and of course Mickey Factz] why do you think this is?
People were let down with a couple of the previous newcomers that were on the come up. Now that we’re here, we’ve showcased countless abilities to step up to the plate and deliver great music. So the bar has been raised and we just keep going higher and higher. Hope you ain’t airsick.

R.I.P Yves Saint Laurent…

The iconic fashion designer that was Yves Saint Laurent passed away today after battling brain cancer for a little over a year. Redefining how women dress in the 70s, inventor of the smoking tuxedo, one of the first to use models of an ethnic minority and pioneering ready to wear, his career spanned from 1957-2002. His greatness knew no-bounds and he will be sorely missed!
Au revoir Yves, rest in peace!

Yes. This is how the PinBoard crew spent their Monday night…

Yup, that’s right ya’ll. We attended the fabulous (we never use that word!) London WORLD PREMIERE of the “Sex and the City: The Movie”. That’s right, we saw the ladies and we KNOW what happens!!
Donning our not-so-designer, designer gear (lol), we arrived at the Odeon, Leicester Square; All we heard were screams, all we saw were flashing lights and all we felt was total chaos. It’s safe to say we were ”shitting our pants”. After dodging what seemed to be, half of London and gripping our tickets tight to our chest (believe, people were ready to snatch them out of our hands!), we walked onto…The Red Carpet.
Seriously, if you haven’t been to a premiere before, you do not understand how freakin scary that red carpet is. We know you’re thinking “pffft, I’d work it”. No. You Wouldn’t. It’s the scariest thing in the world! Flashing light bulbs, people screaming, cameras everywhere and of course, non of this attention is on you but er…that don’t matter.
Anyways as we workedhurried along the red carpet, we saw, to our right, the Diva that is Miss Patricia Field (for those who don’t know, she’s the legendary SATC stylist!), all size 0 of her! Woman’s bussin 60 and is a size 0? Decked out in full furr (which we don’t condone at all! (don’t know if it was real or not either!?))…and her famous red hair – long, long, long hurrr!!
Then, further down, we see non-other than the tiny winy SJP! She is TITCHY! But she looked so amazing, we didn’t wait long enough to see much of her as our main priority was to get off that red carpet and into the cinema as quickly as possible!
Once seated, we waited around 45 mins for it all to start and when it did…Boooooooi!!!
The writer/creator of the show came on, to mucho applauds! Gave a lil’ speech and introduced us to another producer and that lil’ gay I-talian guy (Anthony) from the series! He’s SO jokes! Didn’t know he was one of SATC writers too!?
…THEN…the ladies walked on and well, what can ya’ say! Just…have a look:

Yesssiiirrr! They were looking my-ti-fiiine! SJP gave a brief speech, but the others didn’t say much! But that was cool, we saw them! LOL! The entire place (as you can imagine) went craaaaaaazy!
The movie then began and well…we really COULD tell you what happens?! But then, that’d be sh**ty and in the words of Sarah Jessica Parker “you can brag about it, but ya can’t blog about it!” and we’re gonna stick with that sentiment!
What we will say is: “Sex and the City: The Movie” will not disappoint the die-hard fans. It has everything in there that you’d want, it even has a few (very good) surprises!
The ending: We’re pretty sure EVERYONE will have an opinion on it and we KNOW not everyone will be happy. To be honest, we weren’t 100% happy with the way things ended, BUT again, you ain’t gon’ please everyone and it all depends on what kind of person you are!
Ooooh…we can feel your anticipation! LOL!
For the most part, we thought it was great. Both the experience and the movie were top notch and they both get our vote. Now, you ‘regular’ people (we joke, we joke!) will have to wait a week or so more for the real thing and we reckon, like all great “Sex”, it’ll be totally worth the wait!
Peace, Love & Sex and the City: The Movie!

People, People, People…You NEED to add this night to your calendars!
“Wednesday’s are so dry” Er…Read On!
After the success of their debut night ‘Garage Without The Blap Blap‘ @ Plastic People in East London, the crew return with their follow up night!
‘Blap Blap Returns‘ on WEDNESDAY 18TH JUNE 2008 @ Plastic People is all about having a real good time – with no fuss, no hassle and no problemo’s! It’s about going back to when Garage music was just about having FUN and when it was not associated with violence, trouble, aggro or (sorry to say) chavs! But don’t get it twisted, the night isn’t solely dedicated to Garage – No, No, No…Hip Hop that will rock your socks off and remind us all that it’s far from being dead’ed and Funky House that will make you feel so funky, you might (just might) pee yourself (”Did they just say pee?” - Yes. We Did!) and oooh-soooo-much more!
‘Blap Blap Returns‘ is all about feeling good and having a heavi [Summer] night in London. Grab all your crew and lets rock with the beautiful people!!
You gotta bring it too – make sure you look shAAAarp! That don’t mean no 90’s “no trainers allowed” type ish…Nah, what that means is: You need to be rocking some SERIOUSLY ill kicks! You need to come hard with your whole outfit in fact, whatever your style!
…The bottom line: Look fly and be yourself!
More information on the night [DJ line-up etc] will be released soon and when it is – you know we’ll have it here @ PinBoard for you! For now though, you need to go join their facebook group (HERE) and RSVP on their events page (HERE) and don’t forget, to ensure entry on the night (this place gets RAM!) you need to get you and your peoples on the G-List (it’s cheaper that way too – you know how it is!), so email BlapBlap08@gmail.com NOW…!
Trust us, YOU really need to be @ Plastic People on Wednesday 18th June 2008 for “Blap Blap Returns“.
…BE READY London.
Peace, Love & Blap Blap RETURNS!

Well, Perez Hilton says, someone close to Nick Cannon has told Latina Magazine that Mimi and Nick are in fact MARRIED already! It’s been said that the “couple” got hitched on some next Island and apparently the ceremony was ’very impulsive’ and ’very intimate’ .
I mean, what the heck can we say? We STILL don’t believe this ish and surely, someone with such juicy information would have gone to a bigger publication than Latina Magazine? If we had real, straight up facts like that, we’d be peepin OK? Hello, National Enquirer, E! or somethin like that! No?
ANYWAYS…Moving on from that dumbness – Mariah Carey is going to be ALL OVER this months I-D Magazine and while the images we have for you aren’t the best quality, they show how seriously good Ms Carey is looking these days!

Keep an eye-out for real, high quality images coming SOOOOOON!
Peace, Love and All Things Mimi

PinBoard Update: The New York Post is also reporting that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have in fact, tied the knot. One source, close to the ‘couple’ said that MC did not get Nick to sign a pre-nup, apparently there wasn’t any time! Yuh, ok. We’re still not buying this, lets pray we’re not wrong! lol
PinBoard Update II: Now E! are also reporting that this BS is true!
Family member Linda Cannon has confirmed to E! News that the couple are, in fact, married.
“Yes, we know,” she says. “He called us and told us all about it. We are happy for him. If that is what he wants then we are happy for him.”
Linda Cannon wouldn’t confirm an earlier report that had the impromptu nuptials taking place yesterday at Carey’s new home in the Bahamas, only that Nick and his platinum-selling girlfriend have made it official.
“I’m not going to give you any details, but we are happy for him.”
Shambolic!!!

Not too long ago the PinBoard crew were on the tube surrounded by some young’bloods* who were making loads of noise as we used to in our day. We then noticed one of them started playing music loudly, but it was not from your bog standard Nokia phone, oh no, these kids had upgraded! (Rude boi’s and gal’s can learn something here!)
The music was coming from his BAG, the bag had speakers and the speakers weren’t too bad at all! How did it all work? Well the lovely young’bloods explained to us that inside the bag you connect your mp3 via the headphone jack and it also came with an adapter that charges the bag (imagine what your mum would think if she saw your bag being charged up). Although the actual gizmo impressed us muchly we were not so with the actual design of the bag.
So searching the net as we love to do, we found this (see the pic). Now this is FAR more to our tastes! We just want it in stealth black. Imagine rocking down the road in summer with music blaring from your backpack, chilling in the park with your friends or just standing there looking doper. It’s the OG ghettoblaster made easy, all the sound without the shoulder ache after.
There is a world outside your Windowpane.
*Young’bloods were about 16-17 (Young enough to make us feel old we say!)

*We love a bit of alliteration on PINBOARD*…But back to the matter at hand…
From living in London our whole lives we know to avoid central London on a Saturday. So for the first time in a very long time we met up with some friends around the Soho/Covent Garden/Carnaby Street area. Where is the streetwear/point in all this I hear you wonder, well everywhere we looked yesterday afternoon we noted guys and their girls dripping in all the S/S 08 collections from some the streetwear brands. (We hate that term streetwear, any ideas on what to change it to would be great!) We spotted everything from ninja style all black gets up courtesy of Supreme and Visvim, plentiful Bathing Ape stadium jackets with matching Bapestas and low-riding APE jeans to the young’uns (usually boys aged 15-17) kitted out in newest Stussy tee, Vans and carrying as many Footpatrol bags as they could (RIP to the store).
Now we love our streetwear here at PinBoard, ain’t nothin’ wrong with it and we do appreciate seeing a well dressed brother or sister in some nice get up, but put all these people together in one small area of London, looking at each-other from the kicks up hanging outside the Bape store, Hideout, New Era and Stussy and my oh my it just leads to one thing, looking FOOLISH.
Why do they look foolish? Because instead of going about their routine of going from one shop to the next, they stop and stare at each-other. Girls stare at the girls and their guys and the guys stare at the guys and their girls, we wonder, what are they looking for? We know it may be a bit of a game, but seriously, people need to cool it down and get on with their business and know that wearing these labels is not a unique thing.
But we shall end this post with saying that we hereby declare that Saturdays in central/Soho/Covent garden/Carnaby are to be known as Streetwear Saturday. Next time you are around the area on a Saturday afternoon look out for it and you will see what we mean. And if you find out why they are all staring at each-other so much, let us know.
