The legendary Leon Ware, known for penning hit songs for Michael Jackson, Donny Hathaway, Minnie Ripperton and crafting opus albums with/for Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones and Maxwell (to name a few) has returned with new music.

Proving a musician’s evolution is never really done, Ware teams up with Danish duo Quadron on this new single ‘Orchids for the Sun’. As elegant as you’d expect a song from such a esteemed veteran to be – this is. Wrapped in beautifully vintage ambiance, the song features bustling horns, exotic percussives and an ever-cool vocal delivery from the main man himself. Quadron’s presence, as ever – is felt and loved.

More of this soon, I hope.

Premiered exclusively over at Power 106 earlier today, ‘The Recipe’ is the highly anticipated first single off Kendrick Lamar’s debut album. The track, produced by Scoop DeVille features Lamar’s label boss and Compton’s original son Dr. Dre and as you’d expect – together they set the bar impossibly high (something Kendrick seems to do on his own on a regular basis anyway).

As far as Hip Hop goes – Kendrick is a cut above the rest right now. The way he approaches beats, lyricism and rhyme is in a class of it’s own. Genuinely cannot wait for that album – which we can expect later this year.

Here’s the captivating new video from Cambridge-based band Alt-J for their single ‘Breezeblocks’…

While the song is a fantastic slice of avant-Pop, it is intensely contrasted by the depiction of the story unfolding on screen. So as not to give too much away, I’d suggest you press play and see how things unravel…

Through her regular collaborations with the Odd Future clan, Kilo Kish has steadily built a buzz around her name. Her work with The Internet in particular proved quite fruitful earlier this year when she released ‘NAVY’, the first single taken off just released HomeSchool EP.

Spanning 9 tracks, the new extended player focuses on the Future-Soul, Neo-Funk sound that seems to suit Kish so well. The production on this project is what really sells it for me – while Kilo has most certainly homed in on her skills as an emcee, her rhymes and delivery do tend to blend together – separated mainly by the sonically pleasing compositions she’s rapping over.

If you enjoyed Purple Naked Ladies, this one will be a no brainer; While not as accomplished as The Internet’s debut, the two do share an undeniable affinity.

‘New’ music from Tyler, the Creator recorded back in 2010…

‘Lucky Charms’ is a typically Tyler affair – a pitched down voice with all original home-studio style production – nothing too offensive in there, OF fans should dig well enough. Listen and download below…

Two new Chris Brown tracks dropped today – ‘Oh Yeah’ and ‘See Through’, both produced by Drumma Boy.

‘See Through’ is a slow-jam that focuses on what Brown does well – R&B. With enough ig’nance in the beat to keep things lightly trill, the melody and his vocal does the rest pretty nicely. The second song – ‘Oh Yeah?’ – is a little more hard-knocking and sees Brown assuming his rapper steeze again; Dude has improved in that department, can’t lie. Listen to both tracks below…

No idea what Breezy’s new album Fortune will sound like – confused, I’d imagine. It’s due out May 8th.

We first featured Vince Kidd last year when he released ‘Taboo’ and ‘You & Me’, followed up by the sensational single ‘Sick Love’. Since then, we’ve been following his movements closely.

Unequivocally  a gifted singer – the tone his voice carries (listen close enough and you’ll hear that don’t-give-a-f*ck-I’m-bad-ass attitude that made us fall in love with Winehouse back in the day) and the range he’s able to explore, coupled with his post-Punk image – really does set him apart from any other male Pop star around right now. His London swag also comes to play nicely…

Last night, Kidd was exposed to the entire nation when he appeared on the BBC’s new talent show The Voice (a UK take on the hit U.S series). Performing his own rendition of Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’, he impressed the judges who all “pressed their buzzer’s” in hopes to coup him for their group.

Vince eventually picked Jessie J as his mentor – understandably too. Think those two will make a great team.

Can’t say we didn’t tell you…
