An art-rock foursome who have churned out a fair amount of EP’s and full lengths in the last few years have caught my ear with their latest offering. Street Joy – taken from their 2011 album D was a tender yet bluesy rock tale. A year later they have widen the genre bracket, keeping the tendersome feel, adding a raspier, breathe heavy vocal and some soulful bass licks. And that guitar solo….ouuuufff. Melts me.

Also check out the B-side to this, the Texan band try out something new and cover R Kelly’s ‘Don’t You Say No’. Not the best rendition, but definitely proving they’re a band to keep trying new things.

Terrifying dogs, coffins, puke and vicious looks. According to Jack White’s new video this is what a world of unruly teenagers and child stray aways would probably look like.

Interesting set of visuals for the forthcoming single taken from the solo debut album Blunderbuss out 24th April.

In the similar vein as The Stepkids path of last year, brand new British six piece outfit Wildeflower take on the psychedelic vibe with their debut single that inches across the right amount of warm soul and lush indie, whilst channelling the sentiment of the Neil Diamonds and Nick Drakes of this world.

Shades of nostalgia, layered organic harmonies and a recording process that took place in the British countryside, this sextet are definitely ticking the right boxes.

Here’s the captivating new video from Cambridge-based band Alt-J for their single ‘Breezeblocks’…

Robert McAndrews known under the flattering name Airhead debuts his first solo R&S record in great fashion. Sampling Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs fame, dissecting and pitch shifting à la Mr James Blake (for whom he serves as his live guitarist on tour,) is always a good start to capture the alternative ear. Then gathering tender acoustic guitars with hard hitting, yet spacious clusters of electronic production. It’s difficult to position into a distinct category but it’s cooling, and equally intrigues.

Keep an ear on him.

One of three songs the raising star wrote about a previous relationship and visual prequel to the Born To Die video we posted up previously, check out the fresh monochrome video to her breakthrough track Blue Jeans up top.
