lunhat

Following the global success of his partnership with Hudson Mohawke, Lunice returns – finally releasing the official version of his near-mythic single ‘Can’t Wait To’. Crisp hi-hats, flossy drops and enough ignorance to satisfy the most ratchet among us. Listen below.

‘Can’t Wait To’ is out tomorrow via iTunes.

Junglepussy’s ‘Satisfaction Guaranteed’

Back in March, we introduced you to Junglepussy and her blazing single ‘Satisfaction Guaranteed‘. Today we’re graced with her debut album, also called Satisfaction Guaranteed. And just as we guessed – it’s pure fire! JP spits with confidence and ferocity over darkened beats penned by Shy Guy. This is life according to Junglepussy and we’re listening…

Our boy Darq E Freaker comes through with another monstrous single, titled ‘Minger’, that combines an epic fusion of trap extravagance, grime dystopia and a slew of undercover  Timbo influences (do you hear that?). His new video, premiered on FACT and directed by rising London director Sally Sibbet, embodies Freaker’s horror-core ranking perfectly – it’s set in what appears to be Lucifer’s playpen, riddled with snake wielding demon strippers and disembodied hearts. A madness. Check it out.

drake pinboard

Following ‘Draft Day‘ and ‘Days In The East‘, Drake dropped his latest cut ‘0 to 100 / The Catch Up’. Co-produced by Boi-1da, Noah “40” Shebib and Nineteen85 the six minute treat sees Drizzy go in hard whilst hinting strongly as to when the release of his next album will be (“we already got spring 2015 popping“). And those vocals at the end? They belong to James Blake.

Rap provocateur Mykki Blanco serves up another savage video in support of his gritty single ‘She Gutta’. Released as part of his Spring/Summer 14 EP, the video is filled with images and scenes sex, drugs and violence but is stolen by Mykki’s powerful performance and indisputable charisma. Bundled together with two other songs ‘Wish You Would’ and ‘Booty Bamboo’, Blanco’s new Spring/Summer 14 EP is available via iTunes now.

Get to know Swedish hip hop trio HEL, and their bump-hard debut track ‘BODDLE’. The self-proclaimed rappers, producers and visual artists have released a visually impressive new video featuring a series of interesting characters. Their approach here has churned out quite the foray – looking forward to hearing more.

Kanye West

A new Kanye West song titled ‘God Level’ produced by 88Keys, Hudson Mohawke, Mike Dean & Noah Goldstein has surfaced in a new Adidas FIFA World Cup commercial for their All In or Nothing campaign, which you can watch here. This probably isn’t the full track but take a listen to what we have so far below – hopefully we’ll get a fuller version soon because this sounds like a healthy addition to the Yeezus tracklist (it was obviously recorded during the album sessions) – an LP I still believe to be one of the best of 2013 (contrary to popular opinion).

Take a look at Jay and Bey’s new ‘fake-movie-music-video’ which casually stars some of Hollywoods biggest names including Sean Penn, Don Cheadle, Jake Gyllenhaal, Blake Lively, Emma Rossum, Guillermo Diaz, Rashida and Kidada Jones. Directed by Melina Matsoukas, the clip has been released to promote the couples forthcoming ‘On the Run’ tour – which starts in the States in June. And although I’m still confused as to why the Carter-Knowles’, with all their business acumen, feel the world needs another tour from either of them (following Jay’s run with JT and Beyonce’s year-long world wide tour), I must admit this is exactly the type of star power video that will make people want to buy tickets. And we’re purposely not getting into the chronology of this video appearing just a week after that video smacked the world upside its head.

Timing is everything.

Since signing to Terrible/XL Recordings earlier this year, Hip Hop artist LE1F has been absolutely killing it. He dropped a killer debut EP packaged as Hey, made his live debut on American television with David Letterman, and today, blesses with a swaggy music video for ‘Sup’. Badman.

Boots

Having burst onto the scene after writing and producing for Beyonce’s self-titled surprise album, singer/songwriter/producer Boots has been steadily leaking samples of his debut solo project. Released today WinterSpringSummerFall is Jordy Asher formal introduction and like his previous offerings tis a tape full of twists and turns. Like ‘Haunted’ on Beyonce much of WinterSpringSummerFall centres around murky notions of post-naughties R&B – punctured along the way with aching reverb, cascading chords and eccentric production. Joining Beyonce on the tapes featured-artist list are ShlohmoJeremih,  Kelela, Son Lux and Margot.
