Bringing some dark, beautiful and twisted R&B to your ears is 19 year-old Mzwètwo (pronounced ma-way-two), from New Zealand. Incorporating a hypnotic, foggy aesthetic with some heavy yet intricate production, coupled with a warming, abrupt vocal, the new EP Gallantino serves an experience . ‘Michael Jackson’ is by far the stand out track, with its distinct woolly beat, but the other two are equally worth your listen. Hit the play button now.

The man who may have started it all has today released a brand new EP called Hiders. And by ‘started it all’ I know you know what we mean. Following a string of characteristically random releases over the past couple years and while we still wait for a proper follow up to 2007’s Untrue, Burial’s new 3-track Hyperdub release should suitably satisfy most fanboy appetites. Although – that new long player seriously needs to happen soon.

Listen to ‘Hiders’ up top and purchase the entire EP via Hyperdub.

If you haven’t been mesmerised by Ofei’s enigmatic and soulful musings over the past year, then it’s probably time you did. The elusive Londoner is giving away his four-piece London EP free in exchange for your email addy. Opening number and title track ‘London’ endows you in a soulful concoction of spiritual vocoder-assisted vocals and crashing electric-R&B, whilst ‘Poem’ hooks into heartstrings and strums beautifully. You can also pre-order the EP, repackaged with a bonus track ‘Risk’ via One Little Indian ahead of its February 10th release. For now though immerse yourself below…

Active Child takes his echoey, synth heavy brand of theatrical pop to new heights on his latest EP Rapor. The projects lead single ‘Subtle’ features Mykki Blanco and assumes an over the top Michael Jackson-esque stance – it’s all a bit fabulous. But the rest of the EP is equally exciting – just in different ways. Ellie Goulding sounds surprisingly less annoying than she normally does on ‘Silhouette’ (although I reckon this has more to do with Active Child than it does Goulding), the sizzlingly 80’s sound of ‘Feeling is Gone’ wouldn’t sound out of place on the “Drive” soundtrack and ‘Evening Ceremony’ is an elegant closer.

A Taste of Silver - EP

You should all be familiar with Cardiff producer Until the Ribbon Breaks by now, he’s been onto something special releasing his incredible single ‘Pressure’. His debut EP, A Taste of Silver is an insight into the future of R&B; to put it short, it’s breathtaking.

Opening with the scintillating synths of ‘2025’, the EP flows beautifully into the hip-hop influenced ‘Perspective’ featuring Homeboy Sandman. Although ‘Pressure’ remains the highlight, it’s track three ‘Romeo’ which really brings this set together. Swirling in mysterious instrumentation and whispery vocals, ‘Romeo’ maintains a certain intrigue with its storytelling “You see I would have killed Romeo/ And saved Juliet/ But I don’t write stories/ That time wont forget”.  At the forefront of A Taste of Silver, UTRB brings together cleverly crafted instrumentation and crisp, vocals telling the story of a man finding love in the darkest of places.

Strangely and rather inconveniently the soundcloud click isn’t embedable – go here to listen in full.

Today marks the release of Sampha’s recently announced Dual EP; Featuring six songs, including lead single ‘Without’ and a beautiful new version of ‘Indecision’, his latest offering provides restless fans with something to hold on to (excuse the pun) between now and the release of his full length debut – which hopefully isn’t too far off, especially considering his most recent collaboration.

As you’d imagine Dual is the type of emotional serenade we’ve come to expect from Sampha. It’s softly produced and murky live instrumentation is attached to Sampha’s heartwarming voice (which still stands as one of the most unique in the world) and is often elevated by heavenly layered background vocals, making the entire process a genuinely breathtaking experience.

Pay particular attention to the EP’s closing track ‘Can’t Get Close’, which you can hear over on our 22Tracks playlist… Maybe get the tissues ready. Purchase a copy of Dual via Bleep or iTunes now.

Hurray! After collaborating with the likes of STBTRK, Jessie Ware and most recently Drake over the past few years, Sampha has finally announced the release of his solo EP Dual. Scheduled for release at the end of July via Young Turks the project will feature six brand new songs (including a new version of ‘Indecision’) all written and produced by Sampha himself. The world needs this…

In the meantime, lets reload this one more time…

Following the delivery of his single ‘Stay Forever’ earlier this month, spellbinding British producer Catching Flies returns with the release of his new EP The Long Journey Home. Featuring the aforementioned lead single and two others (‘Grey Skies’ and ‘The Long Journey Home’) the instrumental EP is covered in warm thoughtful beats and affectional samples (including a cheekily incorporated Badu reference on ‘Long Journey’). Listen below.

After surprising fans with ‘Cole Summer’ yesterday, today J. Cole releases his brand new Truly Yours 2 EP. Produced by Cole, Canei Finch & Jake One the new EP features six new songs and boasts guest appearances from Bas, Young Yeezy & 2 Chainz. The tracks on the both instalments of his Truly Yours EP series are a product of J. Cole recording “at least 4 albums worth of material” while recording his upcoming second LP Born Sinner (June 25th). “Some of [the songs] are great and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit sonically, don’t fit theme or there’s just not enough space… Tonight, I want to give you a few of these songs because you deserve them.

Shlohmo’s recent pairing with How To Dress Well excited a lot of folk last week (myself included) and so the full stream of his highly anticipated new EP Laid Out (courtesy of Pitchfork) couldn’t have come sooner. Boasting five new songs the release seems to reflect a growth in Shlohmo’s productions – now more so than ever before his beats form captivating and enigmatic compositions full of unraveling suspense and emotion.

… Still excited to hear that pending Jeremih collaboration too.
