Former Jessie Ware drummer Dornik continues to bring those grooves with ‘On My Mind’, the follow up to last year’s ‘Something About You‘ and ‘Rebound‘. The singer/producer adorns the track with glistening electro-funk sounds that shimmer and shine under that glossy vocal of his. That nine month wait was well worth it… Get vibing to the track below.
Australian singer/songwriter/producer Margiela Madman reflects on life’s path in new track ‘Could This Be Real Life?’. Amongst twangy guitar riffs, thick, pumping bass, and elegant piano melodies, the twenty year-old musician also taps into his love of Hip Hop with a spoken word verse towards the end which further addresses the track’s theme. Go check out a slew of other tracks over at his BandCamp, including a brilliant take on Jai Paul’s ‘Genevieve‘.
Jessie Ware shares ‘Want Your Feeling’ (co-written by Dev Hynes), another gem taken from her forthcoming album, Tough Love out October 6th. On the track, Ware delves into the bouncy soundscape with great poise, as her pristine vocals shape the track’s groovy aesthetic. From what we’ve heard so far, Tough Love is oozing class, then again, we didn’t expect any different!
Acquaint yourself with British three-piece R I T U A L who’ve created quite an atmosphere in ‘The Fall’, their debut single. The trio create an elegant flow of smooth electronics in-between what essentially is, a hip-hop beat whilst filling in with some soulful undertones. Just like the track, the music video too, draws you in with its beautifully shot clips of skies, trees and crashing waves.
JMR (Joshua Michael Robinson) is blessed with one heck of a voice. ‘Doesn’t Feel Human’, the American’s latest offering serves up a whisper-lead falsetto floating through an interchanging soundscape of warm, pulsating synths and glitchy effects. This is real nice…
Watch as Haim take over the (fictional) Dallas Murphy show, hosted by SNL’s Vanessa Bayer, in the music video for ‘My Song 5’ featuring a guest verse from A$AP Ferg. With appearances from Ezra Koenig, Ke$ha, Big Sean, Grimes and even their parents(!), the visual is pretty hilarious with cotton-ball-phobias, mime-fetishes and more. Take a look above!
Kwabs follows up his Wrong or Right and Pray For Love EPs with ‘Walk’, a brand new, stand-alone single out September 29. Unlike the soulful bursts, electronic glitches and R&B vibes of his previous efforts, this new one will have you head banging with its military-like marching drums carrying Kwabs’ rich tones along. Give it a spin below!
Only a band like alt-J can make a line like ‘I wanna turn you inside out and lick you like a crisp packet’ sound so very… appealing. It’s from the trio’s latest tune ‘Every Other Freckle’, taken from their forthcoming full length This Is All Yours out September 22. Once again we’re thrown into a whirlwind of elegant, sophisticated vocal melodies and eclectic instrumentation; and once again, we’re absolutely smitten.
‘Say You Love Me’ is Jessie Ware’s third offering from Tough Love, her sophomore effort out October 6. The record takes things down a notch from the more profound title track and ‘Share It All‘ as Ware graces the soft, sombre BenZel production with an effortless air of elegance and vocal control.
Ibeyi follow up their ethereal debut ‘Oya‘ with ‘River’, a choppy pop track which sees the twin sisters share spoken/sung verses before coming together in the chorus. That’s the Ed Morris directed video above, a dedication to Oshun, the river Goddess, picturing the siblings submerged underwater whilst performing the track.
