Animalistic fantasy creatures, a young hero boy, a white city above the clouds, giants and a flying pirate ship make up the visuals of Yoann Lemoine aka Woodkid’s new video. Using a very similar style of direction to his ‘Iron’ video, the new vid is another look into this talented producer/director’s vision. ‘Run Boy Run’ is taken off his new EP of the same name – out now.
Rarely post previews of music videos but Woodkid produces seriously epic-style visuals, ‘Run Boy Run’, his new single seems no exception. The full video along with the EP (of the same name) is due out on May 21st. Can’t wait to see this in full.
With the news spreading like wildfire that Drake wants more of the Jamie XX infused sound, it’s apt that Drizzy drops the Yoann Lemoine (Woodkid’s Iron and Lana Del Ray’s Born To Die) directed video for ‘Take Care’ with fellow megastar Rihanna. The original sample is take from one of our albums of the year and legendary Gil Scott Heron’s final work, before he sadly passed away.
The foremost allah of the Rainforest Rap (it’s the prefix age), producer Clammy Clams let go a fresh mp3 for that ambience obsessed ass via ye’ ole twitter. Opting not to re-invent his own wheel on this one, the alt’ish world’s breath stays baited for the twenty-three year old’s next phase in light of breakthroughInstrumentals, neoteric bangers on LiveLoveA$AP and of course that Del Ray edit. The soundscape does respectably fill that waiting period. Introspective, pretty yet coarse textured and bathed in lo-fi waterfalls… hit play and cleanse yourself filthy devils!
Gorillaz front man Damon Albarn steps in and takes a shot at remixing Lana Del Rey’s single ‘Born to Die’. His bump-hard version follows reworks from Clams Casino & Woodkid and I must say – the gent does a fantastic job. Maybe this onslaught of named-producer remixes can close that ever growing canyon of split opinion Miss Grant seems to be causing. Who knows…
Lana Del Rey’s debut album Born to Die is due out January 30th.
As the profile of underground champ and atmospherics savant Clams Casino is set to torpedo this year on top of his 2011 instrumental breakthroughs, here’s a long awaited and well strategised remix of Ms. Del Ray‘s lead single.
Additionally, Woodkid (musical alter ego of ‘Born To Die’ music video director Yoann Lemoine) has dropped the other cyclopean remix, as if Clam’s wasn’t enough. Spoilt.
The single it out Jan 23rd, whilst the all important ‘Born To Die’ long player follows Jan 30th.
‘Iron’ is the title track off WOODKID’s debut EP which was released on March 28th.
Carried by a spectacular organ and a set of hypnotic tribal drums, this track, in all it’s cinematic glory wouldn’t sound out of place in a Chris Nolan superhero movie. A fact further emphasised by the visual which accompany it.
‘Iron’ undoubtedly has one of the best videos I’ve seen this year. Horses, owls, supermodels, weapons – it has everything. The way it’s put together and edited is completely inspired. The photography, the imagery, the movement – everything about it is incredible.
