Thick drum pads and gluttonous bass licks all up on this new beauty that the Parisian, Onra has made for Skullcandy’s latest series – Supreme Sound From…
This track and the rest will be released on limited edition 12″ vinyl, which conveniently for the rest of the world will only be sold in Paris. If you don’t manage to get your hands on an import, stream it below via the beloved Soundcloud.
It’s been a minute since untouchable Parisian beatsmith Onra dropped the outstanding 2010 set Long Distance. Upon his return we’re bathed again in probably some of the warmest digital funk being made across the hemispheres. Fat and sweaty with Ain’t Nobody style bleepings and stomping vintage drums that sound like a cue for a Peruvian cocaine and yacht purchase, this is lifted from his Fool’s Gold Records EP Deep In The Night which is out now on iTunes.
Minimal soul. The only way to describe this succinct yet smoothly delicate offering.
Wolfwolf is a 23 year future funk producer by trade. At least if you go by his Happy Heart Breaks LP that was released in June of last year, the project that garnered him a support slot for Onra in Australia.
However, a classically trained youth from the age of three years old, he has grown accustomed to exploring and conquering several instruments including the violin, trumpet, trombone, drums and guitar before later moving onto more modern movements such as turntablism and drum machines. With the sultry emotive vocals from Alianah on this experiment, a new direction may be on the horizon.
As everyone’s getting mentally beefed up to disco, disco, party, party soonish…
Bump some newly dropped Bobby Tank – a London funk cosmonaut creating mucky, low fidelity Boogie. Let it simmer loud till that the vocal chops kicks in and done – booty meat and Babycham.
It is interesting where you can hear influences on beat culture stemming from Hud-Mo and Onra‘s work in the last couple years, as Butter gloop and Long Distance jeep jams meet dotingly somewhere off the coast of, errr, Harrow (Tank’s sides). Check out his Soundcloud, there’s some other tastiness on there, re: Sexy Thang and re: Good Girl Bad Girl.
Shouts to les connoisseur Yera Africanu for sending over and all the DJs out there trawlin’ the digital hemispheres for fresh goods in the early hours. Mad prep for tomorrow night? Holla at the PinBoard archives.
Here goes the second leak off Onra’s forthcoming Chinoiseries Pt.2 album, due out on November 15th. Like everything on the album, the backbone of this track was found during a crate digging mission Onra embarked on in China & Vietnam.
Onra has just unveiled the first single off his forthcoming Chinoiseries Pt.2 album, titled ‘A New Dynasty’. The track is available for free and as you would imagine, is a beautiful continuation of the first part in this series. Featuring music Onra found while travelling through China & Vietnam – it showcases the hard-knocking beats this master has become renowned for.
Exciting news from one of my favourite producers – Onra, who has announced that he’ll be releasing a second installment of his critically acclaimed, and much loved Chinoiseries LP. Like the first, the instrumentals will only use source material found in China & Vietnam. The project is due to be released on November 15th on All City. [via xlr8r]
After the jump peep the albums tracklist, along with a video of Onra hunting for records in China.
Onra just dropped a new demo via his Soundcloud called ‘Drop It On the One’, sampling the Bobby Brown / B. Brown Posse classic (of the same name). And like most things Onra-produced, this is of course very Funky and very… erm, swarve (spelt just like that). Need this fully mastered!
French beatsmith Onra just posted up a new jam on his soundcloud called ‘L.O.V.E’. Despite the track being a demo, the permeating funk still seeps through – can never go wrong with this guy.
