Both Ayah and Slakah continue to push forward, giving away a bag of music each year. Pretty underrated by the mainstream, the pair press on and have been integral over the years to the soul movement. Particularly in their native Canada. But for a small cost this time around, you can buy their new release, a minimal, airy dance enthused 9 minute climatic track with a buff bassiness. Seems only fair.
DJ Jazzy Jeff & Ayah team up once again this time delivering a free album called Back For More. Judging from the tracks that have surfaced thus far and with productions from Jazzy Jeff, James Poyser, Pete Kuzma and Demien Desandies – you know this is gonna be tight.

Ayah and DJ Jazzy Jeff drop another corker, this time in the shape of ‘Make It Last’ – a track sampling Marvin Gaye’s classic (of the same name). The song comes off their new mixtape Back For More, which drops this week! I really like what these guys do together, have long loved Ayah’s textured vocals.
From the upcoming mixture entitled Back For More dropping in July comes this fresh cut with some seriously infectious horns and real laid back drums. Perfectly complimented by Ayah’s smooth vocals this is a tres tasty slice of summer pie. Press play and we will keep you posted on the mixture when it drops. Shouts to BLS for this one. Like most of her previous output, ‘When It Comes To You’ is impressive. The 70′s inspired, mid-tempo number is something a little different from what we’ve heard before. It almost reminds me of something Nikka Costa could have dropped – not a bad comparison. I’ve long been a fan Ayah’s voice (and style), I love the clarity it brings and it’s near-90′s tone. Looking forward to that album.
Having previosly worked with the likes of Drake (Comeback Season), Slakah the Beatchild (Soul Movement Vol. 1), Onra (1.0.8) and Ayah (4:15), Soul-Hop producer Häzel has decided to liberate some (16) unreleased gems in a new project called The Lost Tapes.
… I’m glad he decided to let these go because the sounds on here are pretty tasty. Real warm tones, sexy boom-claps and a sh*t load of head knocking instrumentation – if you like soulful Hip Hop grooves, this is for you.
Have a listen to The Lost Tapes via his bandcamp player, if you like what you hear – purchase it.
One of my favourite producers/artists, Slakah the Beatchild, just released this fresh 2 part EPK in which he discusses what he’s all about, the different aspects of his creativity, the orginin of his stage name and on working with artists like Drake, Tingsek, Justin Nozuka, Ayah and many more. Really enjoyed this. Great talent, brilliant music. Looking forward to part 2, coming soon.
Update: Part 2 now added, check that after the jump…
Ayah just tweeted a previously unreleased track ‘circa 2006′ – love this lady’s voice, so always happy to listen to new music from her. She recommends you listen to this loud and I do too – it bumps…hard. It’s not very long, but it’s still long enough for you to jam to. Hopefully Miss Ayah drops the full version at some point.
We’ve been telling you about Ayah for long time now, ya’ll should be pretty familiar with what she does and how dope she is. I got mad excited when she announced she was working with DJ Jazzy Jeff for her new album – her voice is so soulful and her writing skills so on point, that I knew linking up with someone like Jazzy Jeff would compliment her perfectly.
…And I wasn’t wrong. You really, really need to hear this album! It’s so freaking good, like ‘replay that sh*t right now’ good! Ayah’s voice is sounding better than ever, DJ Jazzy Jeff has given her the perfect beats to sing over – it’s abundantly clear that these two work brilliantly together. A blend of Soul, Jazz, Blues, Hip Hop and Funk – Miss Ayah’s vocals soar.
Check out the three tracks I’ve uploaded, and then download the This Way sampler (above). If you love Soul music – this will not disappoint you. Tracklist after the jump.
