MP3: Arca – Manners
Posted In Experimental,Hip-Hop by Nana

Rarely do artists make an impression on me like Arca has. Back in April the New Yorker released a free EP called Stretch 1, it shared comparable elements to the work of producers like Clams Casino, SpaceGhostPurpp, Ty Beats and Tyler. the Creator. But what’s most impressive about Arca is that he seems to be taking a still developing and already hybrid genre and successfully elevating it to somewhere new.
‘Manners’ which is from Stretch 2 shows a tribal, almost primal, side of the producer and couldn’t fit perfectly in the soundtrack for ‘Baraka’. It wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Clams Casino’s Rainforest EP either. Neither considered a small compliment in my book.
If you haven’t got your hands on a copy of Stretch 1 then you do now. Stretch 2 is out August 6 on UNO NYC. In the meantime, check out his soundcloud. He also has a creepy video featuring images of babies kind of rapping. Which as you’d imagine is worth a look.
