All roads look set to lead to LoveBox this year as organisations have just announced the first round of artists/DJ’s confirmed on the bill. Among some of them are SBTRKT, Flying Lotus, Azealia Banks, Jurassic 5 (!), Julio Bashmore, Purity Ring, Gold Panda, AlunaGeorge and the man-God himself D’Angelo! Aside from Mark Ronson and Goldfrapp a full list of headliners has yet to be announced but something tells me there’ll be some pretty legendary names thrown in the mix – watch this space.
Lovebox takes place in London on July 19th-21st, for more line-up and ticket information head over to their official website.
Ahead of their July 23rd release date for album Shrines and with the pressure on to see if their huge online buzz translates into critical acclaim (with a debut that hopefully doesn’t fall victim to novelty)… the Canadian duo release mysterious visuals directed by Young Replicants for their excellent Trap-Pop banger that is ‘Fineshrine‘.
Today is a good day! First Clams Casino and now Purity Ring have decided to drop some new and previously unheard sounds for us to enjoy. I caught the Canadian pair last week at Madame Jojo’s and gladly report that they didn’t disappoint – in fact they provided one of the best live shows I’ve seen this year.
On ‘Fineshrine’ the guys manage to maintain their impeccably high standards with a piece of lucid, Electro-Chill, Hip-Hop infused dreaminess. Expect their album on July 24th via 4AD. Very excited.
It’s the month London has been waiting for. No not the Olympics. No not the Queen’s Jubliee either. It’s the month when The all powerful The Weeknd decides to grace our city’s presence with his first solo show. It’s going to be a biggy.
That aside, there are festivals warming us up for the summer months, A$AP Rocky and his mob is back, plus The Internet will also be headlining at our homies Deviation 53rd night. Check out @PinBoardLive to win free tickets to the show too. We also see out the month with Ms Badu doing what she does best at the Hammersmith Apollo.
Purity Ring are an electro-chill-wave duo from Montreal, Canada. I first saw them last year when a couple of friends insisted I go down and I’m glad I did. They put on a awesome show featuring strange images being projected across the stage, fantastic back drops and an instrument played by Corin Roddick – the producer of the duo.
What you’re seeing above is the official video for ‘Belispeak’ Directed by Brewer and visually is one of the best videos I’ve seen all year, despite the fact I have no idea whats going on! It sees lead singer Megan James apparently trapped in what looks like one of Gollums’ bad dreams…
The track is the third single taken from their forthcoming debut album Shrines which is due to be released on the 24th July by 4AD. If your not familiar with them then I insist you listen to this and definitely this. They’re also playing Madame Jojo’s on the 12th June, see you there!
