As more begin connecting the aesthetic dots of that Pizzy style, including the illustrious Guardian, it appears that Piff Gang are showing why their vintage Polo swagger hasn’t been in vein for the last 16 months. Their spaced out Plantlife tape is hot on rotation right now, a well formed soundtrack to accompany this London 2012 hangover and perhaps even one of the years best. Whilst John Ford’s production on ‘Candy Cup’ is spectacular in it’s spectral cadette venturing; he also directs the trippy video with Joey2Bunn, that runs us through the perfect recipe for gourmet piffing and promethazine’ing, whilst the 90s ceefax credit at the end is a clever touch. “Ooh ooh babeh,” must be the signal to raise one up as the new face of UK rap starts transcending it’s regional limits.
