Queen Bey drops off the visuals for one of the more power balladeering offerings from her 2011 album 4. After numerous revisits, we ourselves came to the realisation that her fourth was also probably the best album of her solo career although ‘I Was Here’ is definitely one of the safer cuts on there. It’s all housewife melodramatics and fist-clenching-whilst-gazing-out-yonder type stuff, but that doesn’t stop the modern icon singing her bottom off with one of the most unmatched voices on Earth. The soaring tune does also seem like it was destined to be roped into some philanthropic campaign or another, thus a video itself shot quite extravagantly in front of a live audience at the UN General Assembly for World Humanitarian Day. Nice green screen.
