Earlier this week we brought to you a St. Louis artiste named SZA with ‘Time Travel Undone’, and now here’s a mind-blowing, nebula scaling single from her upcoming EP See.SZA.Run. The lady’s badge of honour: wearing the tag ‘Alternative R&B’ on her SoundCloud proudly. We’re guessing that only means the ideaology is in full effect and ‘Country’ is but a perfect example of that sonically adventurous middle passage by HTDW, The Weeknd, Rochelle Jordan, Twigs and countless other vanguards in the last 18 months. It’s not a wave though, because waves crash. This is, sustained development of a generation that’s beginning to rekindle the futurist ethos of late 90s R&B in growing numbers. The next few years will hopefully see even more advancements for the radicals in R&B music. And it’s quite wonderful.
