MP3: Summer Camp – City
Posted In Indie,New Music,Pop by Toasty

London based record label, Moshi Moshi have always been one of our favourites. Fluttering between Indie and Pop. Over the years their bands have released some of my music – from Bloc Party, Hot Chip to most recently Metronomy.
Darlings of the label, Summer Camp – a dynamic duo made up of Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey, provided a solid collection of synth grounded, fuzzy alt pop music that often dabbles in the darkest corner with their debut Welcome To Condale last year. Take ‘I Want You’ – full of 80′s style synth stabs and fractured jabs of prog drums creating an alternative ballad.
Fast track a year later and the pair are gearing up to release a EP. The lead track ‘City’ is a slight departure from their usual sound, however Sankey’s piercing emotive voice works perfectly against the hazy, pulsating pursuit of a beat. Enrolling the help of Odd Future affiliated Hal Williams laid back verse suits the grubby pop sound too. Great track.
Always EP is due July 10th.
