After producing what is probably Jay-Z & Kanye West’s biggest single to date along with a whole bunch of other hits for the likes of Lil’ Wayne, Eminem and most recently A$AP Rocky, Hit-Boy has now officially embarked on his solo rap career. Because you can’t just be a producer, init?

The official video is made up of clips chronicling the past year or so of his life and features cameos from some of his (very) famous friends. As for the oddly titled song – I find it a little strange that he didn’t produce it himself (it’s instead produced by B!nk) and while I’m not “mad at it”, I’m not entirely blown away either. As with anyone who’s had success in a different field Hit-Boy had a lot to prove on this record – I feel he fell a little short here.

As impossible and unfair as it is to compare, his affiliation with Kanye West will also draw comparisons (especially true of the producer turned rapper flex) – and if you compare both debut singles – this ultimately leaves a lot to be desired.
