‘Boyfriend’ was basically the Justin Bieber equivalent to Usher’s ‘Climax’. It was a great R&B single which lead many to think the Beebs had reached a level of maturity in his music. We were mislead – every other single since then has been pants. But, after Drake’s comments about David Guetta’s music not long ago I was pretty confident his collaboration with the teen superstar would be something worth listening to.
I was half right. No euphoric doo-doo here, instead the two Canadian superstars collaborate over a R&B-Pop mid-tempo, produced by Hit-Boy. It could have been better, maybe it should have been better – but this very Drake-directed single is certainly the best thing to come off Believe since it’s first single.
