Arguably one of the best beats to come out of the Star Trak camp for a hot minute (not forgetting Yuna’s ‘Live Your Life’), this classic sounding Neptunian production, provided by Chad Hugo, shows off Stalley’s progression both as an artist and emcee. This serves as a reminder that Chad’s drum game is not to be fu*cked with. Massive beat, great song – hoping there’s more of this on that upcoming Savage Journey to the American Dream LP (March 30th, Maybach Music).
Pretty confident people forget that Chad Hugo was a pivotal driving force behind the success of the Neptunes during their dominance in the early 00′s. Pharrell took center stage most times, but Hugo provided an invaluable presence – it’s what made them one of the best production duos of all time. And while we haven’t really felt the Neptunes force for a while, on this track Chad reinforces what he’s still capable of.
