The story behind ‘They Don’t Know’ is that back in ’04, Raphael Saadiq “opened his studio doors to SpaceK to produce an album for one of his sub-labels, the album was supposed to be called Pookie Blue Room and would have featured 10 songs produced by both Steve and Morgan [Zarante] with Raphael singing on all of them”. The songs would also feature guest appearances by Common, Q-TIp, Ledisi, Steve SpaceK and Sir Bentley. Unfortunately the project was never completed and thus – never heard and as executive producer of the project Schreyer had been sitting on these tracks for years – thankfully now he’s chosen to share them with the world…
