Now being a huge fan of the HudMo original I was skeptical about pressing play on this one. Ye Mighty have created a guaranteed dancefloor destroyer – adding their own idiosyncratic twist to a bonafide modern classic. For those that don’t know, Ye Mighty are Max Wheeler (formerly of Dirty Diggers) and Richard ‘Dutch’ Halligan, another product of the vibrant Brighton music scene that has brought us the likes of Bonobo, Alice Russell and many more. Stunning horns, some heavyweight drums and some great flute riffs taking the original synth hook to that next level. I now prefer this to the original. Yes I said it. This badbwoy is released via those G’s over at First Word Records and available over on their bandcamp (where you can also purchase the 7″) Press play and enjoy.

Sit back. Lie down. Stand up and sway if you must. Just take 5 minutes out of your busy schedules to listen to this. Close your eyes for full effect if you wish.

Not sure if Cadillac is a group, a person or best described as “an Australian luxury vehicle marque”, like their label Future Classics tell us. Nevertheless, this outfit from down under, have made a good job of this cover. Laidback sexy is in abundance with this one. Produced by anthem style solo guitars, euphoric synths and 80′s style Bon Jovi drums. Check the 90′s throwback to Michael Jordan too. I wish I thought of this!

We stay watching…

What seems like months ago now, we at PinBoard gave you the first exclusive download of  Shakka Phillips mixtape and after a summer full of gigs across the country, Shakka delivers this music video for the Coldplay cover of ‘God Put A Smile Upon Your  Face’

I’m a massive Coldplay fan, but forget that this is a cover, Shakka definitely made this one his own. Check it out up top. Home grown talent right ‘ere!

Here is a new track and live visual offering from the quartet. ‘Ruins’ comes from upcoming album out January 2012 on Real World Records. Not my favourite track that has come from the very talented group, doesn’t evoke as much emotion to me as previous tracks but nonetheless worth a listen and definitely wet the beak for the new longplayer.

Stop what the f*ck you are doing and press play. No long ting. The San Fran remix G’s come more than correct with this one. Nasty drums, duuuurty baseline and some next level stabs. This is a recipe for dancefloor murder. Download for gratis over on Vin Sols soundcloud here!

This Irish drum and guitar duo are set to release their debut album on 11/11/11. Having recently just come across them I was delighted to see this video by Polish design and director duo Kijek/Adamski. Taking two months, 1850 drawings and 91 marker pens. The beautiful animation features a lone singer immersed in a body of water, occasionally submerged by the waves, rendered as a series of reflections, distortions and bursts of colour. Love. Love. Love. You can get yourself a free download of ‘The Leopard’ over on their bandcamp here

Jono sent this over to me in the morning and I have been dying to share it all day. This was filmed at the album launch a few weeks back and is one of my favourite tracks off the longplayer. The black and white video captures a stunning live performance featuring an extended band ( big shout out to the two Dans!!!) on the night including a string section and flutist . PinBoard have been fans of Jono after seeing him supporting Jamie Woon (who supported Jono on the album launch night) and for those that missed the first gig don’t fret…Jono returns with his band to play the 100 Club on the 30th November. The tickets for the last gig sold out sharpish so don’t hang around and pick them up here. Supported on the night by the uber talented Tanya Auclair this is going to be a real special gig. Just incase you have been hiding under a rock and not caught Jono’s Rehearsal Room episode shot at RedBull with the PB team check it out here.

Title kinda says it all.

Filmed back in October, BET’s ‘Black Girls Rock’ concert only aired last night in the States. The show featured wall-to-wall divas by way of Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Melanie Fiona and others. Peep Badu’s performance up top, and hit the jump for the rest…

Chap’s been taking a bit of a bash recently in the hipster circles. Did he get too close to Vernon? Too much Guinness, not enough meow meow on Enough Thunder? What happened guys?

There’s no doubt Blake has a brilliant mind; there’s always been a sonic rebellion in his strokes. Yet he’s evolved confusingly between his two identities as either the singer/songwriter that caters the wool cap market, or that bad boy board-bending motherf**ker that services the nightclub wall-sweaters.

When independent label R&S Records released CMYK to audience ripples, it was Blake definitely focusing his self-indulgences to create a bravado offspring of beyond left R&B/Dubstep. Concernedly this all turned missing child on his major label debut earlier this year. I’m hoping he can bring back more of that sexiness frankly.

The new R&S issued, three-track packin’ 12 inch which features A-Side ‘Love What Happened Here’ dropped by us back in Feburary, is a good look for grassroots appeasement. One can only hope he comes as edgy and with hotter blood for album number two.

Above is the B-Side from said EP which sees Blake dabbling in more acid drops than throat lozenges; it’ll sit alongside an additional unheard cut ‘Curbside’.

Out December 11th.

Something new from emerging R&B songstress Jhené Aiko in the form of ‘In Love We Trust’, taken off her forthcoming LP Souled Out. The track like most of Aiko’s works has dope production, but lacks in that melodic execution that you want (need) from an R&B singer. Still falling into that Cassie 2.0 territory.

As I mentioned in the last post, Floating Points is readying the release of another new EP, entitled Shadows. The 5 track extended player is due for out on November 21st via Eglo Records. The entire project is an extension of the A/V collaboration Sam has going with Will Hunt. Preview the tracks below…

Here we have the video for the first single taken off Floating Points upcoming Shadows EP. The visuals were created in real time by Will Hurt, as part of their on-going A/V collaboration.

… You generally can’t go wrong with Floating Points. The man is a G.

Following on from ‘Like Smoke‘ featuring Nas, we bring you ‘Our Day Will Come’ – the second track to come off Amy Winehouse’s upcoming posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures (December 5th).

Once again, the song is beautifully riddled with 60′s Ska influences (I don’t think anyone does ‘this’ better or more authentically as Winehouse did) but it’s her voice and the power of the words she’s singing which will strike most people. Her vocal is sultry, insecure, dripping in pain but strong at the same time – tissues at the ready.

£1 of every album sold will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Rest in power.

You can get an idea of Björk’s electrifying live show through the official video for ‘Thunderbolt’ the latest single to come off her sensational new album Biophilia.

A couple months back, our resident head Miss Tosin dropped ‘Room 48′ by a new London via LA R&B outfit that shares it’s enthusiasm for B&W, clinical depression and diet-bondage/tumblr fanny with the likes of another obvious Canadian entity that’s been impactful in 2011.

Here’s the follow-up vid for all you naughties – it’s moody, rumbling, succulent stuff.
