Back-to-back edits in the PinBoard suite, but a little up-tempo soul to go with the workload for all our 24/7 sluggers out there – weather you’re online or in offices or behind tills.

Always felt like if the 90s had, DJ Shadow, the first half of the Noughties had RJD2 – one of my favourite producers as a teen during the peak Def Jux period.

Maybe he’s found a muse in Aaron Livingston; his vocal gully as the groove-bed of swag cymbals beneath it.

This record leaves me excited for their dual collaborative LP The Abandoned Lullaby, out Oct 11th.

Odd Future’s latest outfit The Internet are stirring up some genuine excitement over on these ends. And while I’m beginning to have my conspiracy theory suspicions on this entire movement (#noIlluminati), I cannot deny the quality I’m hearing here.

Syd the Kid, the tom-boy DJ who rocks parties like it’s nothing, once again sings sensually over a raw, homemade gritty Soulful beat laid down by Matt Martians (I’m hearing FE influences). ‘They Say’ is a great track, not sure it’s better than ‘Love Song-1′ but I’m fully appreciating it regardless – looking forward to hearing more.

Stream Radiohead’s latest project TKOL RMX 1234567 in it’s entirety courtesy of Hype Machine. The project sees innovative producers such as Jamie XX, SBTRKT, Illum Sphere etc taking on songs from the bands Kings of Limbs, released earlier this year. To celebrate the release of the album (due out October 10th) Thom Yorke and the LP’s collaborators will be taking over Boiler Room at Corisca Studios in London on October 11th. The event will be streamed via boilerroom.tv.

Expected more from this sophmore phase, still not feeling like we’re getting it.

Take Care, October 24th, better deliver.

Though I’ve found the new Twin Sister LP In Heaven a mixed-bag, this is one of the more stand-out records.

A hallucinatory, polyphonic Pop bender with 80s power ballad cheek and a typhoon of shoegazing swirls, accompanied by a video that appears to channel 1977 Japanese horror ‘Hausu’ and (nostalgic favourite) Sam Raimi’s cult ‘Evil Dead’ series – can’t go wrong.

Shouts to our all deep-bass, dark room dancers.

Machinedrum’s already released one of my favourite electronic explorations this year with the adrenaline-soaked skank workout Room(s), and now as one-half of duo Sepalcure alongside producer Braille we’re served this delicious low frequency slice of intelligent Sunday night tech sex percolating with diva ghost voices.

You need good speakers to understand this.

Forthcoming on Frite Nite’s label compilation, with Sepalcure’s debut to follow on Hot Flush in November.

Biggup Potholes btw.

Well, ain’t this cute? Brooklyn band Friends flip of Ghost Town DJs 1996 Miami-Bass classic ‘My Boo’, updated for the instagram tribes, with swung tambourines, pinch of adversely feel-good chillwaving and a pretty sensual lead vox.

Think we’re saying goodbye to our lovely October weekend of arbitrary London heat wave/signals of global-warming based Armageddon, with this one.

Exile is readying the release of his new album entitled 4TRK MIND – the project, which marks his rapping debut, arrives October 4th. ‘Klepto’ is the first single from it – production is smash, as you’d expect and Exile delivers on the mic too. Not jumping off the walls over this, but it’s definitely worth the listen and download…

… And yes, that is the album cover.

A slice of R&B to kick start your weekend? Lets…

I loved Robin Thicke’s first two albums, his second in particular was a little special – not to mention, a commercial hit (‘Wanna Love You Girl’, ‘Lost Without U’ etc). After that however, I felt the ‘smooth-cool’ he sold got a little lost in clique and began to feel corny (that “crooner”/fedora steeze will never work). The odd song aside, no album of after 06′s The Evolution of Robin Thicke really compared – but could the tide be turning…?

Thicke’s new single ‘Love After War’ comes off his upcoming fifth album of the same name (Nov 15th). The LP is said to chronicle the highs and lows of a young married couple going through the motions of beginning a family (art imitating life, I presume). The track features a Stevie Wonder / Marvin Gaye groove, and sees Thicke sounding strong and melodic again – and while the line between credible and trite still feels quite prevalent here – I think this works. Lets see what else he comes with…
