Here cometh the fourth release on Awkward Movements. Science & Romance is influenced from all aspects of Chairman Kato’s life. Each track is heavily layered, deeply emotional and “based on a musical education learned from the dark recesses of Plastic People to time spent at the BFI and the classic synth scores of the John Carpenter era – Science & Romance is uncompromisingly hypnotic; meticulously crafted electronic music from the mind of an autodidact”.

This EP be on that next s**t and I am down, my favourite tracks are ‘Presssure Differential’ which had me on some next cosmic head-nod and ‘Low Rises’ (Andres Detroit Soul Mix). A remix by Detroit legend of Slum Village fame… Can’t really go wrong. Have a listen to the previews of all the tracks of the EP below and watch the beautiful trailer by the twisted genius that is Rob MacDougall up above.

The EP drops on October 31st and you can pick it up from Kudos Records here and pre-order the remixes here. Really glad to see the Tea loving Chairman doing his damn thing. Lovely stuff.

New visuals from Terius Nash (aka the artist formally known as The Dream) for the first single taken off his free LP 1977.

P.s Which other artist can you think of that used to be introduced ‘formally known as’? Hmm, go figure.

Stock footage of UFO sightings is the basis of CANT’s new off-kilter video for ‘Believe’. The track comes off Dreams Come True, the intriguing album he released this year. Have a butchers…

I first heard ‘I Still Love You’ via Deviation’s RBMA International Festival stream – didn’t know anything about it, just that it was completely smash. I hit our Dev fam up to get the scoop and was informed that the track was by Switch (of Major Lazer) and that it was the first release off his Dubsided label. A surprise to say the least. The vocals come courtesy of Andrea Martin who is famed for writing songs for Monica (‘Before You Walk Out My Life’), En Vogue (‘Don’t Let Go (Love)’) and SWV (‘You’re the One’) to name a few.

I’ve become a little bit obsessed with this choon – on my 5th straight listen. I love it’s relentless, isolated beat and those harmonious BV’s – not to mention Martin’s powerhouse vocals. I miss these types of vocals – remember the 90′s?

Have a listen…

Being a huge fan of their debut longplayer and this single in particular I was a little concerned about this remix. Initially hesitant to press play, I gave it a chance – glad I did too – the stripped down 2 steppy refix by Manchester based Synkro is alright still. Doesn’t hold the ambience and beauty of the original, but nevertheless a nice alternative version for the raving crew. Also a nice sign that Synkro could put out some more gems real soon. [via HT]

Not the best quality but goooood enough for me! The Mighty Mos Def performs at the legendary SOB’s and came correct with some new material over ‘World Premier’, an unheard Dilla track, ‘Sunshine Screwface’ and track #34 aka The Pain from Oh No’s Dr. No’s Ethiopium album. He mentions a new album titled ‘Applied Science’ and later says there isn’t infect a new album…?! Either way…black Dante still got it. Let’s hope there is a new longplayer on the way. Shout to the good people over at BLS for this one

Roots crew extended family member Khari currently rocking as a bassist with his current band, Elevator Fight comes with his first solo EP. His production has previously graced The Roots’ “Game Theory,” “Clock With No Hands,” nearly half of How I Got Over, and finally, on the most recent leak with The Roots and Big K.R.I.T., “Make My.”  The project features Khari’s production but puts his vocal talents right up front and center. The music is extremely diverse with R&B, funk, rock, jazz, downtempo, classical, electronic, and hip hop influences which suits me just fine. Half of the EP tracks are actually free downloads so make sure you peep the bandcamp. Press play and enjoy! Shouts to GS for putting me on to this one!
