A bit of electro funk for you this morning straight from Canadian shores. This one is also featuring Ms Solange Knowles. Funny video too.

Here is a new track from the current Bulletproof Brass EP which you can pick up now over in iTunes. Having seen them live a few times over here now I would say I am familiar with their sound and on first couple of listens I can’t seem to get down with this track as much as I could tracks like War, Water and Rainbows. Im not big on the drums and I wouldn’t say the track takes me on a journey. On the flipside….i’m a sucker for a brass section and this is 150 times better than most of the rubbish people are putting out. Worth a listen and I will definitely be giving the whole EP a good listen to see what new direction the brothers from Chi Town are moving in.

Goooooooood morning peoples. This is what I needed to get those good vibes flowing this morning. A new track off Oddisee’s upcoming instrumental longplayer Rock Creek Park which drops September 6th. The Carter Barron is a smooth, sweeping track, with amazing drums performed by DC’s Jon Laine, bass from DC’s Dennis Turner, keys from the always dependable Ralph Real, soulful sampling, trademark expansive synth work from Oddisee and beautiful orchestration. If the rest of the album sounds like this then jheeeeeeze an’ bread. Enjoy and download for free from the bandcamp.

Yes I know this isn’t the official video but it’s too dope to not post. I was put onto the YAK films collective by Os Gemeos and i’m real thankful for it. I had not actually heard the Starkey track before watching this video but it is from the ‘Space Traitor’ EP out now on Civil Music and it bumps hard. The dancer goes by the name of Zeus and here is he getting his turf dance on in our own LDN town. Keep it locked over at YAK for more goodness.

I hold my hands up. I have not been following Game consistently for a long while. This track from the forthcoming The R.E.D Album has jumped on my radar though.  Mainly due to the features. The trio pick their victims and make no excuses about it and as a result Game stays (slightly) relevant for a minute.

We have been hot on Sampha, even before the huge association to SBTRKT when we posted up his EP nearly a year ago. I have alot of time for Sampha’s voice and the differing dynamics he uses with his vocals. He dropped this new track less than 24 hours ago and I have played it at least 5 times in the last 30 minutes.

His husky, vulnerable tone sits with me as the piano led balled takes a back seat. This makes me eager to hear more. New project on the way? I hope. Until then I’m going to play this back a few more times.

Official video to ‘Mind’ taking from the Follow You EP and I agree with Speeakz – Nothing but “straight buttah” oozing through this one. Get into this up top.

I was extremely impressed with the Crystal Fighters performance at the Big Chill last weekend and was delighted to see that ‘Plage’ from the Star Of Love album has been given the remix duty from Dauwd over at Pictures Records. I recently posted a couple of tracks from his EP which you can still pick up for free over here. Definitely worth pressing play above and copping the EP at the Pictures Bandcamp.

Many of our favourite artists have graced our ‘Rehearsal Room’ over the past 6 months, musicians we both admire and respect. As our exclusive show, produced in association with Red Bull Studios London, continues to grow we decided to create a mini-series within it designed solely to put focus on new talent emerging.

Our ethos has always been to concentrate on good music and an important undercurrent of that is discovering and exposing a new generation of music makers. Thus we have filmed a number of new episodes featuring fresh-faced musicians who you may or may not have heard of previously. They were selected for one reason and that reason is that we feel they are among some of tomorrow’s most promising acts.

In our third ‘introduces’ episode we feature Emeli Sande , the 24 year old Aberdonian who recently signed to Virgin records after a string of successful featured collaborations, including the top two hit with Wiley’s ‘Never Be Your Woman’. Her appearances  as well as her talent, musicality – she plays both the piano and the cello –  incredibly rich textured voice and her songwriting credits have made her one of the most anticipated female singers to come out this year.

Off the back of supporting Alicia Keys during her 10th Anniversary tour date and gearing up for her debut album, Sandé performs with a soaring soulful vocal style, wrapped around atmospheric percussion and deeply layered with rich cello strings.

Naturally a feel good summer track, that possesses a classic power, Emeli Sandé is a pleasure to introduce to you.

Emeli Sandé’s debut single ‘Heaven’ is released on 15th August via Virgin Records and you can download here via iTunes now.

The original is undoubtedly still a summer smash. Then the Drake remix came thorugh and certified it. Now the rapper/producer Drumma Boy and Shabazz Palaces jump on SBTRKT’s beat. And although reworked three times down the line, it still sounds good.

Big up SBTRKT for making a solid foundation!

Just came across this Las Vegas rapper and was feeling his rhyming skills and charismatic flow, leading me to feel compelled to share.

It is always a breath of fresh air to hear a MC be real and let us listeners know they haven’t already reached their peak, but  rather talk about their constant their progression. ‘Rise To Power is exactly that.

After the jump, hear another track ‘Beautiful’ from his forthcoming project Freebase. What do you think?

I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to this album to drop.

To whet appetites even more, here is the visuals for the first track from the Cole World: The Sideline Story LP. September 27th couldn’t come sooner.

This time last week, I was soaking in every minute detail of the deer park that Big Chill Festival hijacked for 4 music filled, bass stricken, dance fuelled days. With an unbelievable  madness erupting in London that the world hadn’t seen in 20 years. On the other side of the country in Eastnor Castle situated somewhere in between Wales and the Midlands, since the Thursday that I arrived, myself, @def_danny and some good friends had happily had a constant flow of good music to take our attention and our minds for at least 12 hours every day. Bliss.

Lil’ Wayne’s new track featuring Drake is a bit much, been bumpin’ it since it dropped yesterday. Here’s a new remix (or new version?) which sees Rick Ross adding an additional verse. Excuse the tags.

I hope by now you’ll all have heard Stateless’ most recent album Matilda – if you haven’t I highly suggest you acquire a copy immediately. The groups second LP is fantastic and this song ‘I’m On Fire’ featuring Shara Worden is one of the many highlights within it. Granted it may be a little #soemosh for some – I’m sure you’ll agree it’s as beautiful as it is haunting.

… It may be worth noting – the album is very eclectic (featuring some insane productions), this single isn’t necessarily systematic of everything else on there.
