Fact: My friends > Yours.
Why? Well, because they put me on to some really good music – I look at it like compensation. Ha.
In any case one of my best homies put me on to Inc. – an L.A based group comprised of brothers Andrew & Daniel Aged.
After initially hearing a track called ‘Millionairess’, I was enticed to find out more and discovered that the duo recently released an EP entitled 3 - featuring, you guessed it, 3 songs – the aforementioned being one of them.
I loved the 80′s-R&B influences on ‘Millionairess’ – the beat, the synths, the echoed vocals – it all sounds mad fresh. But I adored the Prince influences on ‘Swear’ (real Purple heads will know exactly what I mean too). I like the way they have incorporated his influence with their own brand of alt-Electro-R&B. The third song off the EP is called ‘Heart Crimes’ and is probably my least favourite but even with that said – it’s not a bad track, the drums and the funky keyboard sections make sure of that.
Is this group yet another ‘too cool for school’ outfit cleverly jumping on the bandwagon of revival vintage R&B? Only time will tell – but for now, I’m really enjoying their productions. Think you might too.
