On Sunday’s I usually draw for the more Soulful sounds within my library and considering we’re getting a rare dose of sunshine in the city today (yes, international friends sunshine at the end of July / beginning of August is a rarity where we are) – I guess it’s even more fitting. Everything sounds better in the sunshine.

I’ve been sitting on to this new EP from iSHE & Hezekiah for a few weeks now – it’s an inviting compilation of experimental Soul. Hailing from Philadelphia, these two share a creative affinity. Their new extended player was put together in just 9 days which may explain why it sounds little uncoordinated and not fully mastered. But even with that said their blend of classic and contemporary Soul results in some pretty sexy sounds, both instrumentally and melodically. And despite a couple fillers I found it all really enjoyable – highlights include:  ‘Stand Guard’, ‘Pressure’ & ‘Hold On’.

The iSHE & Hezekiah Project is available via bandcamp for $10. Listen to it in full below.
