Heads up everybody, new supergroup in town. According to FSD Cocaine 80 is a new group, spearheaded by No I.D., which includes “Common, Steve Wyreman, Rob Kinelski, Kevin Randolph, James Fauntleroy, Makeba and many more”. Very little else is known about the outfit, other than that they have an EP coming out called The Pursuit.
Great hearing Common again, fiending for a that new album. For now though, this will do.
Gold Panda dropped this unreleased track via his soundcloud in time with confirmation that he will be sprinkling his golden glitchy sounds throughout the UK in October.
As a per cursor to those dates (below), ‘MPB’ is a mixed bag full of sounds, from a smooth electric groove throughout, to sporadic techno sounds added in. There is definitely alot to get your head around – alas it’s free. Listen below and check the dates after the jump.
Another video release from the Pac Div boys. Track just makes you want to bounce. Video up top and if you haven’t got the mixtape, make sure you cop it here.
Watch Jesse Boykins III perform a brand new song off his new album called ‘Plain’ live at The Loft. The track is a slight departure from Boykins’ traditional ‘slow jam’ vibe – which is great as it’s good to hear him on an upbeat record. ‘Plain’, along with the albums first single ‘B4 the Night is Thru’ are real promising singles. You can also watch Jesse performing ‘B4 the Night is Thru’ live at The Loft after the jump…
The Queen of Hip Hop Soul teams up with Nicki Minaj on what is (reportedly) her first single off her upcoming My Life II: The Journey Continues album.
I needed to listen to this a few times over – I wasn’t completely sure on first listen – but I think I may love it now. This is fire. I must say though – I’m not sure this is the best ‘first single’ (in context to the musical landscape we’re currently living in) – it isn’t ‘Family Affair’ or ‘Be Without You’, but I like the direction and so I remain crazy excited about the new album.
… That said, the real question is – what must Lil’ Kim be thinking? Oouff.
How about some vintage DāM-FunK? How about some vintage DāM-FunK with Leon Sylvers III mixed in? Alright then, lets get to it…
“The ‘full details’ of this joint are spoken over a brief Stanley Clarke ‘instrumental into’ (when I was hella young and my voice was a tad higher…), then…the groove me & the great Leon Sylvers III did, kicks in soon after. It was recorded in my bedroom in Pasadena, CA. The song never made it to Atlantic Starr’s album after all, but was still a good learning experience, recording w/ 1 of my 1st musical mentors: Leon Sylvers III” – DāM-FunK.<
Says this was uploaded 23 days ago. I’m 23 days late. Thank f*ck I’m not a woman.
‘Wonderland’ is the first single off of H.A.S’ forthcoming EP entitled H.A.S (The Unconscious State) – it’s been fantastically produced by Sampha. Hope you got good speakers, this beat is nasty.
