When I first got put on to this track I went straight to play without reading the title. If I had taken my time I wouldn’t have mistaken the “I love my boots more than I love you” for “I love my boo more than I love you”. This is way better than a jumpoff/infidelity track. It’s a love triangle song involving a man, a woman, and a pair of boots- the most mysterious of all footwear. Guess who gets the guy in the end?
When the vocals get dramatic they’re pushed a bit hard for me but then it’s right back to being a poppy, dancey, Maroon 5-y track with lots of bounce. Not a Maroon 5 fan? You can still like this one and you’ll have UK duo Sid & Sigala for getting “What do you want baby?” stuck in your head after just one spin.
