I’ve been playing Yult and Tanya Auclair’s new EP Animal Inside for the past 2 weeks now (thanks Amelia!). Like their last collaboration, I am in love with this.

We posted the first single and an album trailer a couple weeks back, now it’s time to sink our teeth into the full project – which they’re kindly giving away for free (to the first 1000 people at least!).

The EP is wrapped in mystical sounds, tribal beats and exotic melodies. It’s also akin to a more contemporary sounds too, and while comparisons are far too often flippantly made – I can say if you like the productions of Flying Lotus, Bjork etc – you’ll probably like this too.

Yult’s musical approach is refreshing, the same can be said for Auclair’s (Kate Bush style) vocal musings. Together they effectuate a wonderful mix-mash of sounds and colours, it’s a little hypnotic.

That cover artwork is fantastic too, I must add.

Boiler Room has become a staple night for music lovers in LDN Town, with DJ’s like Theo Parrish, Bullian, SBTRKT, Oneman et el regularly on the turn tables. It’s definitely one of the best ways to hear new music in this city beyond the confines of your room (Deviation being the other).

This past Valentines Day the Young Turks crew took over, their main man Jamie XX hit the decks with DJ Yasmin. Channeling their love for classic House and Garage, the pair go B2B and drop some serious bombs.

It’s Monday, trust – you need to play this mix.

Peep the full tracklist after the jump, but just know, their set features Oxide & Neutrino, Rosie Gaines and a new track off Yasmin’s album produced by Jamie. Oh and one of them drop Destiny’s Child ‘Get On the Bus’. Pow.

P.s Yes, Max – I apologise for flopping – we should have gone to this one. Oops.

The don of all things gun-finger MJ Cole is dropping a brand new EP entitled Satellite on February 28th via his imprint label Prolific. The 4 track extended player boasts an assortments of sounds; A couple seemingly marking a new direction for the producer. Drawing on influences from Funky House, (post)Dubstep and of course Garage, Coleman colorfully explores the spectrum of bassline music.

While the songs vary in style, all do feature that screw-face-inducing, multi-textured sound that we have all come to expect from this beat making sovereign. His love for strings is prevalent across the entire EP and of course, as with any MJ Cole production, you can expect nothing but ribald bassline drops.

‘TVG’ the opening track is the only one on there that I am fully moved by – it’s just a little too dance-y for me – but even when Cole isn’t at 100%, he’s still better than 99.9% of your favourite producers.

‘Bordeux’, ‘Hawaai’ and ‘Manta’ on the other hand get nothing but love and adoration. MJ Cole you infinitely infinite bad man.

Preview the EP below, buy it when it drops.

Both Kanye West and Drake joined Rihanna on stage during her performance at the NBA All-Star game. Drake performed his verse on her number 1 single ‘What’s My Name’, and Kanye jumped on for a performance of his new single ‘All of the Lights’.

It’s Sunday, you should all be at home, relaxing and generally enjoying your last piece of freedom for at least another 5 days. Sigh. With that in mind, here I am offering you a perfect Sunday evening soundtrack to weekend lethargy adrift from thoughts of weekday labouring.

Flying Lotus has offered up a new track to be featured on the upcoming Ed Banger compilation Let the Children Techno mixed by DJ Mehdi and Busy P. The simplistic, kite-like drone of FlyLo’s ‘latest direction’ is prevalent – retro-futuristic, space operatic textures and all. This is good for you, take it.

We posted the acapella rendition of this song which Jamie did while in Cambodia last week, it’s time now for you to hear his new single in all it’s fully mastered glory.

I’ve had this song for a while now, first heard him perform it was late last year – I think it’s f*cking excellent. I love the instrumentation – do you hear that swing? Those claps? I love the texture of his vocals too and the layers which encase them and once again, lyrically, Woon delivers.

The real deal, we keep telling you.

I am very curious to see how the media (mainstream press, blogopshere etc) respond to Jamie in light of Blake-gate. Not just the media, but fans / music heads too. Is there room for both Woon and Blake to co-exist without their markets clashing and critics overlooking one for the other?

What do you think?

It’s finally here! Press play immediately…

Directed by Hype Williams, featuring Rihanna & Kid Cudi with vocals by Fergie, Charlie Wilson, John Legend, Tony Williams, Alicia Keys, La Roux, The Dream, Ryan Leslie, Alvin Fields and Ken Lewis.

It’s hard to choose the best song off My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, but you’d have a strong case for claiming this is one of them.

…But I can’t lie, I think I was anticipating much more from this video. I mean,  it’s cool, I like the typography and the inter changing colours etc but it’s not exactly ‘Kanye level good’ (a bar he set high himself). Also, a little concerned for those who may suffer from epilepsy #imjustsaying. This video could have been a lot better, Hype Williams could have gone all out here, but instead they kept it low-budget with cheap effects. A real shame.

P.s Rihanna, I love you. **Gulp**

Andreya Triana, Fink & Bonobo perform a live acoustic set in Paris for Ninja Tune’s birthday concert. Performing songs off her debut album Lost Where I Belong, the always ambrosial Triana delivers a sincerely gorgeous performance. The tone of her voice is something my ears never bore of, if you haven’t already I highly recommend you check her LP – it’s a beautiful affair.

If like me, you recently missed Ghostpoet’s long awaited album launch, then like me you must feel a little silly. But never fear, redemption is just around the way.

Soundcrash Music presents Ghostpoet at the hot new London venue, XOYO. Saturday 16th April definitely looks set to be a good ‘un. Buy tickets here at £8 in advance.

The album launch was a sellout,  I’m sure this will do the same. Don’t sleep on this one.

Got that new Radiohead album yet? I’ve been listening to it for the past few hours, I’m fully involved. Radiohead are dope, we know this (and for those who don’t, this is perfect opportunity for you to discover) – it’s no surprise then that their latest effort The King of Limbs is a smash. Their sounds, Yorke’s voice – it works every time. Listen to the album in full below, if you like what you hear – buy it!

Jamie XX is seemingly unstoppable at the moment. Did you see mans on ‘Newsnight’? Jeremy Paxman (is a man badder than most) chopped it up with XX about the art (or redundancy?) of the remix, among other G’d up things. Anyways – inspired by his encounter with the man like Pax, Jamie decided to remix the ‘Newsnight’ theme – listen below.
