What a week it’s been for up and coming singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran – not only did he release his brand new (superb) Collaborations EP and not only did it reach number 2 on iTunes and remains in the top 10; But he also signed a record deal with Atlantic AND just moments ago received a phone call from the legendary Elton John, who told him how much he’s been enjoying the new project. Damn.
Keep on keeping on Ed. The next year is clearly going to be a big one. And erm, I hate to say it but – we told you so. Lol.

Mexican singer/songwriter Graciela Maria has been working with Berlin based producer Robot Koch since 2009, featuring on a number of his projects including his Death Star Droid LP. After touring the world, Maria has now readied the release of her debut album aptly titled Many Places. The project was written by Graciela and produced by Robot and with some help from fellow musician Sneaky (Ninja Tune) they were album to capture an organic sound wrapped in Koch’s trademark electronic production.
‘Through the Night’ is the first single taken off Many Places (due out at the end of January) – have a listen and see what you think. I’m liking it, but need to hear more before I cast my full judgement. You can download the track, for free, via the bandcamp player too.
Joker takes on Devlin’s latest single ‘Let It Go’ and in doing so puts a very Joker-esque spin on it. Never a bad thing. Anyone who frequents PinBoard knows that we’re all pretty much stans for the Purple producer and so anything he touches, our ears naturally gravitate towards. This remix is no exception.
VTech & Fresh Selects come through once again with another brilliant live video, this time featuring our guy Bilal. Performing ‘Restart’ of his latest album Airtight’s Revenge (our #3 album of the year), Bilal does what Bilal does – sings his ass off. Peep the video up top and expect more of the same soon.
At the risk of shocking a few people, I must admit – I’ve never really been the biggest fan of Lykke Li. Folk act so surprised when I say that, but quite frankly – I see a lot of people riding this chick’s dick *pause*. But, with that said, I try and listen to everything that is sent to me, even if I’m not the biggest fan of the artist in question and this is why – I actually like this tune – quite a lot. It reminds me a little of Santogold (huge fan, where the f*ck is she anyways?), feeling the beat and Li’s floaty vocals. Good stuff.

P.s When I say I’m not the ‘biggest fan’, this does not mean I think she’s rubbish. Just simply that I haven’t been that into it. Make the distinction peeps…!
The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin called into the Wendy Williams Show (?) and discussed her health, rescheduling the tour she had to cancel, her dating life and the biopic she has been planning for 4 years. She also mentioned that Halle Berry is at the top of her wish-list to star her in the film.
New video from the ever-so-funky Jamiroquai for their new single ‘Lifeline’ taken off the new album Rock Dust Light Star. The video was shot documentary-style and in black & white – it doesn’t offer too much by way of sexy visuals, but captures some cool moment of the band while on tour.
Brand newess from those Chase & Status mandem, this time featuring man of the moment Tinie Tempah. ‘Hitz’ comes off the producers forthcoming album No More Idols. I’m not too sure about this one, might have to give it another spin – but those drums are working on me.
Something a little different, but something I wanted to share with you guys…
Last month Red Bull Studios London commissioned us (PinBoardFilm) to make a documentary on the northern art collective known as Subism. More specifically they wanted us document the collectives week-long ‘Curating Spaces’ exhibition which took place at Red Bull’s studio (also home to our Rehearsal Rooms series). Over the course of a week we captured the creation of some truly beautiful pieces of art and in the process got to know the artists behind them. All of this is amalgamated into this 5 minute documentary – I’d love for you to watch it and let us know your thoughts. Hope you enjoy.

A brief visit in the summer, a bit of possession *cough cough*…ahem I mean promo and a YoYo’s show later, Bruno Mars is returning to UK soil to promote his debut album, ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ which is due for release January 17th. In fact, due to the huge demand, he is releasing the album a whole week earlier than planned. Good news for eager Bruno lovers.
