The ONLY thing Rihanna is doing right this time round is ‘the look’. The red hair, yes, even this longness is working on me. Jeeze. Rih-Rih gets album cover of the year for sure. As for the song and the content of her new album Loud – pass. Just…Pass.
Here goes the first official video from The Foreign Exchange’s latest album Authenticity. ‘Maybe She Dreams of Me’ is a great single to release, it bumps hard.
FE’s album has left the PinBoard group quite divided – I think it’s a cohesive project, well written and definitely well produced. While some of us think it’s lackluster and a step backwards after their last offering. Those who share the opinion of the latter, I say to you – listen some more, let it simmer. This is the type of album that will keep you warm during these cold winter nights. Trust me.
It’s been over 10 years since Eric Benet & Faith Evans first collaborated together on ‘Georgie Porgy‘, a now classic song off Benet’s album A Day in the Life - and they’re back at it! The song this time is called ‘Feel Good’ and will appear on Benet’s upcoming album Lost In Time (Nov 23rd).
Eric is bringing his A-game with this album, every song that has leaked so far has been fire. It’s been the type of music I’ve needed from him since that 1999 album which featured these two first. ‘Feel Good’ is a classic sounding, up-beat R&B jam. It does exactly what it says on the tin, turn your speakers up and listen to some R&B goddamit!
Adele finally returns with her new single taken off her upcoming sophomore album 21. The single, ‘Rolling in the Deep’, is a departure from the folk-stylings of her debut Hometown Glory, this is more instrumental, a little more upbeat. This old-soul sound works brilliantly with her vocals, really like the direction she’s headed in.
I’ve been waiting for this lady’s return for a minute now, I was a big, big fan of her first album. This has got me really excited.
The video up top is made up of time spent in the studio in Malibu, California.
I will never bore of posting anything Full Crate related.
His latest offering, The Barb, a 2 track single which will be available digitally (November 22nd) and on vinyl (November 29th) via Kilawatt Music feature two different aspects of his production style. ‘Let’s Funk This Motherf*cker’ as you would imagine showcases a funkier influence and features the vocal stylings of Mar (a winning combination, still). The second, ‘Cut the Barb’ focuses more on his broken steeze.
Lauryn Hill & The Roots performed Bob Marley’s classic ‘Is This Love’ at the annual Michael J. Fox fundraiser. The video isn’t the best, but it’s decent enough – L-Boogie is sounding nice.
Just got an email from Columbia Records and was overly happy to see that within it they announce that they’ve signed Katy B to their roster. A massive look.
Having already made a name for herself on the London scene and achieving chart success with her massive debut single ‘Katy On a Mission’ / ‘Louder’ it was only a matter of time that a major would snap her up. They press release also mentioned that she’ll be supporting John Legend this month and will also be hitting the road with Tinie Tempah too.
Now this is the type of thing Sony should be putting out in honour of MJ’s memory.
Back in 2003 Michael and R.Kelly wrote the song ‘One More Chance’ which featured on Jackson’s Number Ones compilation, but due to his trial that year the video was never released. We now get to preview the video before the full version of it is featured on a DVD boxset titled ‘Michael Jackson’s Vision’ which is out November 22nd.
I love this song and loved, loved, loved seeing new visuals from the King of Pop. Full on emo watching that.
A couple months back Danny posted a remix of D’Angelo’s ‘Left & Right’, we (the crew) were instantly sceptical. There are some artists that should remain untouched and D’Angelo, to us, is one of those. But on pressing play we quickly discovered Brooklyn based producer Sam Champ was on to something pretty dope. The ‘Left & Right’ remix received a massive thumbs up from all of us over here and many of you too – I (actually) play it on a regular.
Sam just hit me up with another new remix, this time he goes after the woman of my dreams Erykah Badu and one of my favourite songs of hers. ‘Soldier’ a cut off New Amerykah, Pt. 1: 4th World War means a lot to me and so once again I press played with some hesitation – stupid me really. Champ knows exactly what he’s doing. This remix is smooth. Those chords? Yea, they be working on me right now. Listen and download (for free) via the bandcamp player below…
These remixes come off Sam Champ’s forthcoming EP which drops in December. You know we’ll be posting and bumpin’ that as and when.
This is f*cking rubbish. I’m getting really, really pissed off that the music coming off this Michael album is not only questionable (in more ways than one) but is completely crap too. “Michael Jackson featuring Akon” are words I never want to see or repeat again.
Monster Monday’s continue, this time Swizz Beats draws for DMX & Busta. Damn, it’s been a minute since we heard DMX spit some fire, I ain’t mad at this. And erm, Busta comes through too…? Shit.
