Wow. This is an epic track from current project The Age Of Adz out now via Asthmatic Kitty. The instrumental breakdowns had my earphones in knots..damn those flutes after the half way point….really liking this musical direction for Sufjan. Definite gun fingers…

One of my favourite tracks from the debut XX album. Covered here by the almighty force that is the Gorillaz.

From those G’s over at First Word records comes a collaboration between Parisian beatmaker Fulgeance and partner the Soulist. Together they are releasing an EP called Soupape which should have been dropping today. This is the first single from the EP. Enjoy. Download using the arrow on the player as per.

My love for Quadron’s album runs deep. Track for track, that album has got me through some hours.  Happy to see that the homie BUG dropped his ‘punch-up’ (remix) into my inbox just a minute ago, pressed play and obviously had to share it with you guys. BUG’s production adds that bump, that baseline is hurtin’ me. Speakers up, please.

James Blake has announced that his self titled, debut album will be released on February 7th 2011.

The 22 year old singer, songwriter and producer who’s debut single ‘Limit To Your Love’ surprised all that knew him before, has fast become one of my (our) favourite songs of 2011. It’s melodramatic steeze, build under a strong yet simplistic set of piano chords is something that still moves me after countless listens. Then, the drop. That drop may be one of my favourites of this year – not sure I’ve heard anything like that incorporated into such a song before. Spectactular.

With all that in mind, I am extremely excited about hearing the album. Knowing Blake it will throw up a whole host of fantastical surprises.

Lets hope the next 12 months is as exciting, musically, as the last.

I’m always happy when anything new from Marsha Ambrosius drops, ‘Far Away’ is a perfect example of why. Taken off her debut album Late Nights & Early Mornings, (due out early 2011) this Just Blaze produced ballad demonstrates why she’s so special. As a song writer, she’s superb, her melodies rarely disapoint and that voice, yea – that voice does something to me.

Cannot wait to hear this LP.

Update: Marsha says via facebook: “I wanted Michael Jackson on this song with me, I even have it listed in my iTunes featuring Michael Jackson. Can’t bring myself to delete it. Every time I hear this song, I hear him :) thanks for the inspiration always MJ :)

Jazmine Sullivan is about to drop the R&B album of the year. Just trust me. You’ve heard the ’10 Seconds’ and ‘Holding You Down’, right? Two f*cking smashes. NOW my girl is paying homage to the one and only Purple Yoda, with this funky R&B number featuring some mean baseline, funky keyboard chords and some badass 80′s drums. My Gawd, this is that nice, nice ish. Thank you Miss Sullivan, thank you for making me somewhat interested in R&B this year. Sulli’s new album Love Me Back drops end of the month.

New-old Missy Elliott? Produced by Timbo? Sounds like something off Under Construction to me, hardly ‘classic’ Timbo in my opinion but close enough. It’s good to hear that he was somewhat disappointed with his last “mainly pop” album because it was nothing short of completely sh*t. I await this masters return, for now – this will have to do.
