That’s some next level ish. I can’t stand the song but in terms of videos, Chris Brown is back on track. The dude can seriously move, I know we already knew that but still. Now, if we could get some better music behind such visual, we’d be on to something great. ‘Yeah 3x’ comes off Breezy’s forthcoming album F.A.M.E (Forgiving All My Enemies), which we can expect early next year.
This was the only other performance I enjoyed from last nights MOBO Awards. Thought it worked great, the set up, the JLS boys singing the hook – it all worked. Fun performance.
This finale performance made the show. The rest of it was pretty pants. The 15th annual MOBO Awards took place in Liverpool last night and saw performances from the likes of NDubz, Tinie Tempah, Roll Deep, Travie McCoy, JLS and…Nelly (??). I was largely underwhelmed by the aforementioned (minus the Travie McCoy/JLS performance which was actually pretty cool), but Tinchy’s performance with Devlin, Giggs, Professor Green & Tinie Tempah was by far the highlight. I was surprised MOBO did something that was so…Credible. Glad they did.

Janelle Monae is unlike any other artist around today. I’ve been saying that for nearly 3 years now. 2010 was the year the rest of the world realised it and while the majority of ears remain asleep on this incredible talent, good peoples such as yourselves are thankfully well clued up.
Anyways – until’ tonight I hadn’t heard or seen Monae perform ‘BaBopByeYa’, one of the many highlights off her debut The ArchAndroid. In the video up top she performs the epic ballad backed by the Emory Symphony Orchestra at Emory University’s Schwartz Center in Atlanta, Georgia – her performance is spellbinding. Everything about it from her dress, to her posture, her seamless and powerful vocals – everything. Goosebumps.

Last week the second RBMA Culture Clash took place at the Roundhouse in Camden. Having attended the first one earlier in the year being at this one was mandatory. Culture Clash sees 4 sound system crews go head to head in the Roundhouse, each trying to out-sound, out-smart and out-do each other. This time round it the contestants going at it were Metalheadz (former champions), Skream & Benja, Soul Jazz & Channel One.
With a slightly younger audience than the first one (we put this down to Skream & Benja’s recently chart success/popularity) the night was as assumed – pretty epic. I don’t think I’ve ever heard audio so loud in my life. The sound systems these crews were playing with were dangerous. At one point I think Metalheadz actually lifted me off the ground – it was nasty. Hypnotic, but nasty.
Anyways, the G’s over at RBMA have just posted the audio of the Clash and have kindly separated it into each round (The Warm Up, Selection Round, Entertainment Round, Mixed-Up Styles, The Final Round (The Decided)). I advise you buy new speakers if you don’t have decent ones already. This needs to be listened to L-O-U-D-L-Y. Be careful, but enjoy.
Oh and biggup the O.G’s over at Channel One for winning the damn thing. I quote: “at the end of the day, which one of you [other contestants] will be here in 20 years. My yoots”. Yeah, what he said.
Quite possibly one of the most exciting male vocalists to be emerging out of the UK right now. His 1st single ‘Night Air’ (and it’s remix) is on constant repeat – maybe one of my favourite songs of 2010. This new track, off his forthcoming album was just made available via SoundCloud – listen below.
…Understand why I’m so hyped about his guy? His voice is n-e-x-t. This song is brilliant and does not disappoint after hearing ‘Night Air’. Oooouf.
Lost count how many videos this chick has dropped over the past few weeks. This track isn’t going to be on her new album Loud. It’s produced by that Guetta geezer.
As most of you know the latest Foreign Exchange album dropped last week – we’ve all been pretty much obsessed with it since then. Last week the group also dropped part 1 of their short film which explains in detail who they are, where they come from, what they do and where they’re going. A great watch for anyone unfamiliar with their music. Catch two part 3 after the jump.
No-one Ever Really Dies, but they may just get regurgitated and redundant. Despite being a fan from day dot, haven’t felt enough sonic freshness is being omitted by their fourth offering as more material leaks off their forthcoming LP ‘Nothing’. Stale songwriting (Pharrell jive-talking like he’s still 14) and dull production here.
