Here is the debut video offering from Big Dada recording artist Bang On!. A born MC, Elliott Egerton’s furious delivery combined with raw, bass-hefty production that could make a bleeding edge dubstepper weep, he’s set to be a force to be reckoned with in the coming year. Thoughts please!

Oh, this is so good!

Quadron who’s new self-titled album I have been straight rinsing, got me through a lot of my 9 hour flight to the States and my 10 hour bus ride from L.A to San Francisco. So chilled, it’s beauitful.

Anyways – this is pretty amazing. The band cover Michael Jackson’s classic ‘Baby Be Mine’ (actually one of my favourite MJ tracks of all time) and do so in their own unique way. If you’re going to cover Michael Jackson, or any classic for that matter, you need to come with something original, this is why this works so great. The video too is brilliantly shot.

Also, as an added treat we also have the audio from their show in Brooklyn where they performed songs off their new album. What more do you need? Watch the video up top and download the audio below.

I have no faith in this, but hopefully it’s like her first Christmas album. Info from over MC’s official website below…

In addition to traditional yuletide fare – “The First Noel,”  “Little Drummer Boy,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “O Come All Ye Faithful” and more – MERRY CHRISTMAS II YOU also contains four original songs composed by Mariah, including the new single, “Oh Santa,” and many more surprises for the fans.  Producers on the new album include American Idol’s Randy Jackson, multi-platinum hit-making producer Jermaine Dupri, James Poyser (acclaimed producer for Aretha Franklin, The Roots, Lauryn Hill and more), and five-time Oscar nominee and Grammy/Tony/Emmy award winning composer Marc Shaiman.

Oops.

Up and coming singer Bruno Mars’ has been arrested for suspicion of narcotics possession early Sunday morning in Las Vegas. He was taken into custody around 2.40am after security officials at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino found narcotics the bathroom (allegedly). This was all after he performed at ‘Wasted Space’ (lol) for a taped performance for the Walmart Soundcheck Risers concert series. [Source]

It’s not clear as to what drugs were found. Bet it’s weed. We’ll see.

Albums out October 5th FYI. Yeah.

One of the greatest Hip Hop songs ever covered by Q-Tip & The Roots. Nice.

Wow….I just had this teaser on repeat duty. The snippets provide more than enough evidence that this EP is going to be something truly special. His first long player still gets heavy rotation on my Ipod and I am a big fan of his production. His production style reminds me a little of J-Rawls in his ‘Essence of soul’ days but thats no bad thing.. Will definitely be coppin’ this when it drops in October….keep your eyes peeled here!

Q-Tip just tweeted that he’s currently working on tracks with Mary J. Blige, Beyonce and will soon be in the studio with Jay-Z & KanYe. Sounds promising. I hope Bey goes down a more ‘urban’ route this time round. I need to hear her singing R&B again.

Looks who’s back?

Former member of Floetry, Natalie aka The Floacist, is back with a brand new record Featuring Musiq Soulchild. While I’m not sure it’s the best timing (what with Marsha’s new material about to drop), I’m happy to see her back. Natalie has something really special and while I’m not the biggest fan of spoken word – her voice is mad sexy and very easy to listen to.

‘Forever’ is a beautiful record, a great ‘comeback’ track too. It made me realise how much I missed her talent. I think a lot of Floetry fans will be happy to see this lady back doing what she does. If the rest of the material off her debut album Floetic Soul sounds like this – we’re in for a treat. The new album is expected to drop November and features Musiq Soulchild, Raheem DeVaughn, MC Lyte & Lalah Hathway.

“My approach to the manifestation of Floetic Soul, has simply been to get out of the way and go beyond my comfort zone, making sure to challenge any limitations that I may have placed on myself over time,”

Good stuff.

Interviewer: “are we going to hear some more dance influences?”

Mary J. Blige: “[Basically] No”.

That’s why MJB is my chick. Her music has not really grabbed me in a while, but the fact that she says she’s not going in that tired, stupid, annoying, soulless direction like most chart chasers are/have done means a lot. If the new record sounds anything like her My Life album I will be extremely, extremely happy. I miss hearing that soul from Blige, I get she had to do what she had to do (the pop route) but it’s time to go back.

Kelly’s European follow up to ‘Commander’ gets the video treatment, loosing track of her releases to be honest. But I don’t hate this, prefer it to the last track/video she released. She looks hawt. And her voice is mad on point. This lady has vocals!

P.s Put the video after the jump because it auto-plays.

Rihanna’s new video for ‘Who’s That Chick’…

My two pence: Some people love Rihanna, some people hate her. I’m somewhat indifferent. I couldn’t call myself a fan, but then I do like quite a bit of the stuff she puts out. In my opinion her last album was her best. That dark, edgy, experimental side is something I really navigated to (musically speaking of course). It’s a side I don’t think we would have ever seen if the ‘incident’ with Chris Brown had never occurred. And before you start – you know I’m not condoning that mess, just stating my opinion.

ANYWAYS – even during her Rated R era (which as I said I enjoyed), I remained fast stead in the opinion that Rihanna’s biggest problem is: she doesn’t know who she is. She doesn’t know the artist she wants to be, she doesn’t know what type of music she wants to make. If you look at her back catalogue it’s been a mishmash of styles all relevant to the period in music it was released.  This song and video yet again confirm that for me.

Now we’re back to pop-dance music, Rihanna? Really? I actually feel quite sorry for her younger fans, those who brought the dancehall favoured ‘Pon De Reply’ and then given the poptastic ‘Umbrella’. The fans who were offered the Euro-dance ‘Please Don’t Stop the Music’ and then offered ‘Russian Roulette’. They, like her, must be mad confused too, no?

‘Who’s That Chick’ was produced by the David Guetta. I don’t really like it. As for the video, I like the colours? But the song is  kinda poop. After ‘Rude Boy’, Rihanna needs to do a lot to impress me, that song was  pure fire and in my opinion – her best to date. Yep.

Rihanna stans – fall back, it’s cool. I’m really not hating on her here, just expressing my opinion. I think she’s a great pop star, I just wish I knew who she was musically.
