Earlier tonight Jamiroquai performed his brand new (funktastic) single, ‘Rock Dust Light Star’, live on Later with Jools Holland. The legendary Brit also performed ‘Deeper Underground’, but as we wait for that to drop into my inbox – just posted this performance – peep it here.
Love this dude. Love the new single. Love this performance.
The new album Rock Star Light Dust drops November 1st.
I don’t even feel this majestic beast needs (excessive) commentary.
Quite simply, undoubtedly one of the tracks of the year.
Stunning, from divine production (it’s like Burial meets the Copacabana) right down to the clinching factor: Woon’s hypnotic voice and profound words. That man is gifted I tell you.
Shouts to dreamers and insomniacs worldwide (and PMOI where Amelia was makin’ up noise about this with a 1.30 snippet last month, haha).
Jesse Boykins III jumps on KanYe’s new single ‘Runaway’ and gets Smoke DZA on board too. Not really a fan of the original, so I don’t love this – but it’s decent and it’s cool to see Jesse’s interpretation.
…Biggup the 1 note piano KanYe is messing with. Ha.
Thank you Ne-Yo, thank you for keeping it R&B. This I can get my head into – sophisticated, smooth and melodic – that’s what I’m looking for from these R&B singers. You wouldn’t think that was asking a lot, but evidently – it is. This is off Ne-Yo’s confusing forthcoming album Libra Scale.
Ahead of their new album Stuck on the an Island on October 12th, ¡Mayday! have dropped a new mixtape entitled Lords of the Fly featuring 26 brand new songs, which sees appearances from Cee-Lo, David Banner, Mack Maine, NORE, Devin the Dude and more. Tracklist after the jump.
Let’s take it back…to the days of high top fades, Kid N Play steps, the house parties and Bobby Brown. Here is an offering from duo ‘New Jack Kings’ coming straight out of Michigan. This track ‘Ask Of U’ features mr Mayer Hawthorne and is Jaaaam Hot. You can download a free album via their bandcamp HERE. Lots of classic New Jack Swing flips by producers like Vaughan T, 14KT, Nick Speed, ZO! and vocal contributions from Buff 1, Mayer Hawthorne, Big Tone, Ro Spit, Aloe Blacc, Ella, and Sole Deacon.
Here at PinBoard we are all about giving you dope new ish spanning all genres. Keep an open mind my PinBoard family. This is a new track from a mr Duffstep. With a slightly tougher edge than some of his more mellow peers on the techno-edged evolutionary path of Dubstep, you can almost feel the main room sweat dripping off this one. Close your eyes and pump it up. Trust me. ….let me know your thoughts…I f*ckin love it…at 57 seconds in I spilt my drinking trying bogle in a cafe. Wait for 1.26 were it gets a likkle darker…PRESS PLAY
Whenever I read or hear about a new remix of a D’angelo track I am instantly sceptical, his music is just not to be f*cked with. Sam Champion however has come with a refreshing take on the D’Angelo classic and seems to be a producer to watch folks. I am still a bit on the fence about Mark Ronson exec producing D’Angelo’s new ish…we shall see….
An abundance of G.O.O.D. Music news in the last 3 days.
First ‘Ye tweeted that we could expect Q-Tip, Pete Rock and Madlib (yes, Madlib!) production on the new collaborative EP/LP ‘Watch The Thrown’ with Hov. Some knights of the round table/hip-hop jizz dream ish fo’ real, but I’ll only believe it when the official tracklist/liner notes comes to fruition.
Earlier today it was announced mighty Mos Def is the latest signing to the G.O.O.D. Music label which probably means if Kanye takes the helm to produce or executive produce his next LP, then it’s near-guaranteed to be the solid, classic (pondering back to Common’s revival with ‘Be’ here) that he’s been devoid of since his ‘Black On Both Sides’ debut. (And no, in my opinion even ‘The Ecstatic’ was sketchy in parts).
Now, pencils and diaries gang, we’re getting word that the release date for Mr. West’s yet untitled fifth long player (what happened to ‘Dark Twisted Fantasy’, I liked that…?) is November 22nd whilst the highly successful G.O.O.D. Friday viral campaign is expected to continue until Christmas as vowed by his twitteration himself. Personally, any Kanye album is the most anticipated of that year- like who else in mainstream Hip-Hop delivers like he does- really & truly?
Ironically, Speeakz and I were perusing the fourth quarter release schedule this morning and it means Kanye is doing billboard battle with a certain Barbie and a certain baldy. Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday’ and Ne-Yo’s ‘Libra Scale’ both drop the same week. Someone’s gonna get parred!
Shortly after we posted Jazmine Sullivan’s new track ’10 Seconds’ last night, the one they call Kidkanevil hit me up on twitter saying he’s going to run it through his mpc and see what he comes up with – just for fun. Like me, he pretty much bugged out over Sullivan’s flawless vocals, not to mention Salaam Remi’s brilliant production.
So, he just tweeted me the results, which you can listen to below. Unfotuantely at this present time I am unable to listen to it as I am stuck at the ol’ 9 to 5. But you can, so press play and have a listen – drop us a comment and tell us what you think…
Biiggup Kidkanevil, as always.
Update: Enjoying this, love the addition drum licks, gives it a little extra edge. This tune remains on repeat.
Whatchu’ vibin’ to this morning? This feels like a train ride through the bustle of the city’s chilly maelstrom on a mission to find it’s Soul right now.
Brand new single to download from UK boards-woman Miss Laidlaw widely renowned as The Beatmaking Housewife featuring the ethereal, reverberating vocals of Xei. I hear hints of Badu/Bilal/early Noughties Neo-Soul influence in there too.
Friggin’ buff.
Shouts to all the female beatmakers out there, there’s just too many man, too many many man, so we love you.
On one hand there’s Gil, amongst the greatest poets of the 20th century delivering a genuine comeback with his lauded 2010 release ‘I’m New Here’.
On the other hand there’s Chris, one of the most seminal music video directors of the 90s (Aphex Twins ‘Come to Daddy’, Bjork ‘All Is Full of Love’) with his first piece in four years.
Producer and rapper Terrace Martin is conjuring up some of the phattest, sexiest production on the Westcoast right now. His trademark style whips up just right level of low end thump overlaid with gorgeous electric pianos, synths and floaty pads, often topped off with sax solos by the man himself. Just ill.
Cannot wait for his forthcoming project ‘Here My Dear’ which’ll reinterpret the under-rated 1978 Marvin Gaye divorce LP (one of the most frank, honest, naked Soul albums in history).
Above is the official music video/short film for two joints off that.
