This dropped no less than 24 hours ago and we’ve actually been arguing at PinBoard HQ over wheather or not to post this (Speeakz’ co-pilot S.P. writing here because Speeakz’ refused to drop this audacious/semi-sacrilege remix and he wants the good folks at home to know that, lol).
Kanye West is either an arrogant blaspheme or a post-mod God.
I’ll sum up initial sentiments at 5am this morning: surreal.
We’re going to let our readers (the underground AND the overground heads) decide for themselves.
Hands down the best video/visual experience I’ve seen this year. Arcade Fire, my new favourite band (I know they’re not ‘new’, but I’ve only recently gotten into their music) have released a brand new interactive, inspiring online video for their new single ‘We Used to Wait’ off their brilliant new album The Suburbs (the LP which made me a fan).
You need to have Google Chrome to watch it, so if you don’t – just download (trust me, it’s worth it) and if you don’t want it after, just delete it. You’ll then need to go thewildernessdowntown.com and type in the address of the house you grew up in (yep, double great idea – free market research!) and just leave your screen to do what it does (multiple pop up’s will appear – leave them).
Simply brilliant and a testimony to forward thinking artists/teams who are embracing modern technology.
Despite a ‘minor setback’ on Mickey’s 7th mixtape, I’m Better Than You, he’s still dropping a new freestyle. While we wait for the new tape, let this tide you over.
Ne-Yo once again defends his sexuality during an interview with ‘Hello Beautiful’, saying that “there’s nothing [he] can do to prove that [he] is single”. The soon-to-be-father also explains that the mother of his child is his best friend, who together, “decided” to have a baby…
In celebration of his performance and Rinse FM’s 16th birthday at Fabric next week (10th September), Roska’s offered up a brand new, never before released track entitled ‘Play Gamez’. Listen and download from the soundcloud player below (to download click the downward facing arrow). Peep the flyer for event at Fabric after the jump…
Anything attached to Georgia Ann Muldrow instantly gets my attention, put Stones Throws’ MED into that equation and it’s all good times. This track not only features Muldrow, but was also produced by the lady herself. Musical porn, audio butter – whatever you want to tag it – this is it. That thumping bass, the soulful chord progression, the elusive but distinct percussion,(hear those bells?), combined with MED’s staple flow and Georgia Anne Muldrow’s unfuckwithable vocals – yea, I got my soundtrack for the day. This will be on repeat for the foreseeable future.
Melo-X & Jesse both sent me this track yesterday, but I’ve only just reached my computer today, so while I’m a little late – it’s definitely better than never. Boykins has been covering Andre 3000′s ‘Prototype’ at his live shows for a minute now and so he decided to record it properly to feed to the masses. Enlisting the help of Melo-X & Trae Harris, they set to work to recreate one of the most beautiful songs of our generation – their way.
…Jesse’s vocals are n-e-x-t on this. If anyone could achieve this, it’s him.
Great footage of J.Cole & Marsha Ambrosius performing in New York City at J&R’s Music Festival – peep Cole’s up top and hear the lovely Ambrosius after the jump.
Brand new mixtape from DJ Green Lantern featuring new music from Nas, Fabolous, Jay-Z, N.O.R.E, The Dream and a whole host of others. Download by clicking the cover up top and peep the check list after the jump…
Today would have been the King of Pop’s 52nd birthday, it’s very easy to forget, because of the way he affected the world, how young he really was when he passed. But instead of mourning his death, or looking back at his life with a sense of sadness or otherwise, we here at PinBoard HQ choose to celebrate his memory and his legacy.
On the 1st anniversary of his passing PinBoard launched a new series called ‘The People’ – the first episode was dedicated to the great Michael Jackson. Asking everyday people on the streets of London what they thought of the gloved one and how his life & passing had affected their lives was a beautifully eye opening moment. While many may have ‘written him off’ during the last years of his life, it was great to see that his memory was being cherished and respected.
So, lets once again watch ‘The People On Michael Jackson’ and remind ourselves why this one man was so important to us and the world at large.
Related: Our contributing writer, Felicia, also wrote a heart warming open letter to MJ on the 1 year anniversary of his passing – if you didn’t then, you really should read it now.
