Whoa, this is a rather explosive episode of Behind the Music. Mr Usher Raymond opens up about his days being mentored by Diddy aka ‘Favour Camp’ where witnessed ‘sex, drugs and orgies’, his break up with Chilli, his relationship with his mother/former manager and of course, his marriage and divorce with Tameka Foster. Whoa. Hit play.

Dr. Dre’s new single ‘Under Pressure’ featuring Jay-Z is featured in his advert for HP Laptops. Obviously it sounds much better than the shitty rips we heard a couple months back but I’m still not convinced it’s what we need from this guy. After all these years, surely he should be coming back harder?

Eh, the advert is pretty cool though.

Newnewss from the man who can Bruno Mars. We introduced you to this guy way back when but many got to know him singing hook for B.o.B – a great opportunity for his talents to be fully exposed. This track is cool, it’s a little too pop for me to say I love it but it’s nice. It’s definitely a track for radio and I’m not mad at that – have a listen, download if you like…

Thought I’d give the CDQ version for those who are feeling this track. I personally think it’s a bunch of crap, but that’s just me #nostream.

Peep some outtakes of Drake’s interview with PAPER Magazine…

On negative blog comments:

I stopped going on a computer. I have a problem where if I go read a hundred positive things about me and there’s one guy in there who says ‘I hate Drake’ that’s the one I pay attention to. I think that’s a common problem. Negativity hurts us more than positivity helps us. I asked about 10 or 20 people around me, ‘When’s the last time you went on a website and commented on something, like a song dropped and you went on and said, ‘That song is hot’ or ‘That song is terrible?’ And everyone I asked around me, whose opinions I respect, the people I love, were like, ‘I’ve never done that before.’ And these are all level-headed, intelligent people whose opinion I respect, so I just started saying to myself, ‘It takes a certain type of individual to really participate in a group discussion about someone else, especially if they’re going super hard with consistent hate.

On playing Obama in a movie:

I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him. That’s the goal [laughs]. I watch all the addresses. Anytime I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel, I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions. Slowly but surely, I’m not in the study mode because nobody’s called me about anything, but I just pay attention so when the day comes I’m not scrambling to learn how to speak like him. I want to be involved in great film projects. I don’t want to do the basketball movie that everyone does. I don’t want to do the typical black film that everyone expects. I think that I have enough experience to actually be involved in a real meaty project full of substance.

On his shine to Andre 3000:

I have a shrine in my apartment dedicated to Andre. I took a door off a barn and had an artist take the lyrics from his verses [and put them] on this barn door. As soon as you walk into my apartment that’s the first thing you see.

Why he’s not concerned about overexposure:

Overexposure would be me in every single video, me on Twitter every single day, me… having my hand in all these pots because I feel I’m hot. That’s overexposure. Overexposure isn’t when people love you too much and are excited. I hate when people confuse the two. I actually say no way more than I say yes to opportunities are presented to me.

This is why I love twitter. Dezaray Dawn just hit me up on the ol’ social network tip introducing me to not only her in the wider sense, but also this BusCrates (brap!) remix of ‘Hide Away’ – a track taken off her EP Chameleon. I feel incredibly late here as this is my first introduction to Dawn’s music. Not cool. If this track is anything to go by though – I have a feeling her music and I are going to get a long just fine.

Listen to ‘Hide Away’ remix uptop which is available as a FREE download and then stream her EP Chameleon below (which is exactly what I’m doing right now) – it’s only $5 so if you like what you hear (and you will) – support this artist. I’m going to be listening and educating myself on this lady starting from…now!

New tune from ladies favourite Trey Songz, rumoured to have made the final cut on Songz’ new album Passion, Pain & Pleasure. If you like your slow jams, this is probably for you. If like me you need something with a little more…edge – check his track featuring Nicki Minaj (she should be on all his tunes lol).

Mark Ronson has revealed the artwork to his much hyped new album Record Collection. I think it looks pretty cool.

While I’ve never been a fan of his own stuff, I’m a big fan of his productions (namely Amy Winehouse’s Black to Black material) – I think I was one of the few people on Earth who wasn’t impressed by his last LP Versions. Eh.

…This album seems quite different though. Despite hearing from a homie who saw him live the other day stating that his attempt at singing was nothing less than shocking – the LP seems to be setting up quite nicely. With collaborations from Q-Tip, D’Angelo, Duran Duran and a whole host of others – seems pretty powerful. So, I await with an open mind to hear what he’s serving up.

A bit late in posting this – apparently this is ODB’s last ever recorded verse. Rest in Peace.

Eric Benet is on his way back with a brand new album entitled Lost in Time which he hopes sounds like it was written & produced somewhere between 1972 & 1976. In this promo video, Benet discusses his concept behind the album, why he feels it’s the right time to put out such a stylised album and what we can expect from it. It also sees him singing parts of his new single ‘Sometimes I Cry’ which sounds amazing – his voice is so ridiculous.

This guy produced one of the best R&B albums in my record collection – A Day in the Life (which I think I’m now going to play again) is one of those albums that is and will stand the test of time. His voice, his words, his ideas on that album – whoa. Unfortuantely I never felt he really ever followed that up with anything as good. His past couple albums have been good – but not fantastic. By the sounds of what I’m hearing in the video above though – it sounds like that’s all about to change.

Mad talented dude who remains super under appreciated.

This is fu*king epic!

Red Bull just let loose their exclusive “Not For Sale Music Academy 2010″ music bundle featuring 41 exclusive collaborations by participants and lecturers from more than 30 countries.

“When you approached the Academy space via Barnham Street, it seemed like that patchwork building was hovering on the corner. The large floor-to-ceiling glass panes of two former pubs melded the pavement – the very ground where the late Dr Parnassus hosted his mind-boggling Imaginarium – to a bunch of studios. Or rather, to a universe full of music.

This year’s 60 participants brought diverse musical visions to London: providing panoramic windows into what’s going on in the 32 different countries they hail from. Similarly, the space in which they created was a window onto the host city. A place where walls reflected and bounced ideas rather than divided individuals. A set of rooms solely dedicated to why a musical life is so worth living, especially in a multi-faceted place like this LDN TWN we love.”

Download “Not For Sale” by clicking the image up top. Cannot wait to get my ears around this!

Red Bull – we thank you!

Brand new remix of Janelle Monae’s ‘Cold War’ – unfortunately I’m slaving away at the ol’ 9-5 to be able to enjoy this, but from what I’ve been told it’s quite the contract to the energised original. I love remixes that sound completely different to it’s O.G form.

…’Cold War’ is Monae’s next single off (album of the year) The ArchAndroid.
