My friend Aissetou exclusively interviewed Ed Sheeran and spoke with him about his music, his career to date, how the ‘SB.TV’ video he did really opened up a whole new audience to his music and who is currently writing music with/for. He also performs an exclusive track at the end of the video which is pretty cool.

On a personal note, gotta say BIIIIGUP Aissetou for putting this together – she did a great job, right? Yep. Keep your eyes peeled for this young lady, she’ll be appearing on your TV screens very, very soon.

He’s mainly talking about Pusha, but alludes to the Clipse as a whole signing to KanYe’s label. This could be a massive look.

Free albums are always cool. A free album from Exile? Even cooler.

Radio Bonus is being released for free in celebration of his upcoming album AM/FM which will drop via Plug Research on August 31st. The new set will feature various producers remixing the original Radio tracks and will see the likes of Aloe Blacc, Blu, FaShawn, Shafiq Husayn, Muhsinah and a whole host of others adding their own verses/styles to them. Exile got so many submissions he couldn’t feature them all on the new album – hence the free download. Nice.

A new side to Nicki Minaj – a softer side. I don’t hate this track, but not sure I’ll go back to it more than once or twice – it steps up as she begins rapping. Doesn’t look like they had a lot of money to play around with on this  vid (understandably after her last one) but did good with what they had. Think I need to marry Nicki Minaj. Lol. Oh, how far I have come, huh?

Kelly talks about her new album, her new single ‘Grown Ass Woman’ and of course addresses those DC-3 reunion rumours.

Aloe Blacc chopped it up with Gilles Petersonon for an interview and to preview some new tracks off his upcoming Good Things album which drops September 28th. I’m so excited to hear this album in full – from the tracks I’ve heard so far and am hearing in this interview – it’s set to be yet another great Soul album this year.

This video looks EPIC! Wow. The Roots be putting it in. And of course, the visionary Rik Cordero behind the camera. Can’t wait to see the final product.

Ironically the beat to this track is one of my favourites off Thank Me Later, but the track itself is my least favourite. Yea. Anyways – check some BTW footage of Drake, Swizz Beats & T.I on the video for ‘Fancy’…

Amelia sent me a couple emails last week filled with some really cool goodies. One contained PMOI’s exclusive mix by Kidkanevil which I posted yesterday and the other, an advance stream of Tanya Auclair’s debut EP Thrum – which was officially released today.

As you know (and hear me moaning about if you follow me on twitter) I get sent A LOT of music on a daily basis – the sad truth of it is that the majority of that material doesn’t meet PinBoard standards. So, you can imagine my excitement when I first pressed play on Tanya’s new EP and heard the haunting drums of ‘Closer’ and the engaging nature of her voice.

I truly love Tanya’s musical vision, it’s so raw and authentic. It isn’t clique, it isn’t a fad – it’s actually like nothing I’ve heard before. It’s a little left of centre, it’s quirky (see ‘Tight Little Fingers’), at times throwback (see ‘Plane Trails’) but consistently limitless – it’s abundantly clear to me on hearing Thrum that Auclair has a diverse musical knowledge and in the process of tapping into her inspirations has created something all together new.

“A road-trip round Sweden set this fever off in me. Initially it was an experiment, taking some of my favourite things about music - primal rhythms, loads of vocal harmonies and straight-up melodies – and it turned into its own little beast, making me dig deeper, to where everything thrums.” says the London singer on her debut EP – ‘primal rhythms’ is definitely a great way to describe it – her choice of drums throughout the EP is something I’m really enjoying.

If you like to be brave and experimental with new music, I have no doubt you’ll love this. It’s a beautiful introduction to a beaufitul new singer/artist. I’m excited to hear/see more of her in the future. Just know you’ll be hearing a lot about her right here on PinBoard in the not-so-distant future.

The homie Mikael Colombu is serving up some next level dopeness as of late. Wow. I’ve expressed a number of times how much I am a fan of his work – it helps that he’s a really safe guy too!

Anyways, – check his footage of Bilal performing ‘Move On’, a track taken from his new upcoming album Airtight’s Revenge. He performed it in a ‘bedroom sized tent’ at the Dour Fest in Belgium. I remember him performing this tune at Deviation – it sounded fly then, sounds even better here. This album is going to be killer.

New video from retro soul man Mayer Hawthorne – ‘Your Easy Lovin’ Ain’t Pleasin’ Nothin” is off his A Strange Arrangement album – def worth a listen if you’re feelin’ this tune.
