Uh oh! Ciara’s upcoming 4th album Basic Instinct which was originally slated for an August 17th release date has been pushed back to October 5th. That’s quite a time difference. No word as to why this has happened, but this type of news is never good (for the artist or the fans).

Ciara’s first official single from the album ‘Ride’ (which is still ‘aaaard) has recently broken into the top 5 on the R&B/Hip Hop songs chart. Let’s hope this positive news ensures this album eventually does see the light of day and moreover gets the right (financial) backing it ‘deserves’.

P.s I think they can come hard with the album artwork too.

Pharrell Williams recently sat down with Interview Magazine for…an interview (go figure!). Peep the (dope) pictures here and then go here to read the interview in full. Spotted over at Ye’ crib.

Solange Knowles, looking all kinds of hot, performs ‘Sex Karma’ with Montreal’s lead singer Kevin Barnes on the Jimmy Fallon show.

While I’ve never been a MASSIVE fan of Solange’s voice, there is something about her I like. Her music isn’t bad, in fact, it’s actually kinda good. It took me a while to get into her last album, but I eventually did – her song writing on that album was so on point. Not to mention, she’s really coming into herself style wise – she looks so dope in the video up top.

I see you Felicia.

I don’t post film trailers. PinBoard is a MUSIC site. But, this, this is too much and I had to share it.

I actually don’t have words for this. The only thing I can come up with is: A MADNESS!

You’re telling me with all the great writers out there (heck, I know some amazing aspiring script writers) this is the best Hollywood can come up with? A sequel to a film which had one of the most DEFINITE endings? Seriously? I actually can’t believe this is real, I feel like it’s one of those ‘Scary Movie’ films. Beyond dumb.

Michael Jackson fans around the world will be happy to hear that a new album, featuring ALL-NEW material is scheduled to be released this November. According to Frank DiLeo, Jacksons manager, at the time of MJ’s death he “left hard drives filled with unheard music, much of it recorded during [his] 80′s peak”. These songs are said to include collaborations with Akon, Will.I.Am and Ne-Yo, as well as material cut from the Bad album.

This album is part of a 10-year project, seven year deal the Jackson estate signed with Sony Music back in March – a deal estimated to be worth over $250 million that will also include reissues of The King of Pop’s classic albums, new Greatest Hits sets, a DVD collection of his most iconic videos and a Cirque du Soleil show. Not to mention video games like the one due out at the end of the year.

I’m torn here. I would L-O-V-E to hear brand new MJ music, this is especially true if they’re from the 80′s. But, the cynical side of me is thinking – is this just exploitation? His children are taken care of, financially. They will never need for anything – and nor should they – it’s what Michael wanted. As are his family etc. So, for me, this is just another way of cashing in on his legacy when while he was alive Sony Records didn’t do ANYTHING to help him. In fact, at the time of his death MJ never even had a record deal.

I think, when this new music drops – I’ll be bootlegging it. Straight up. That way my concious will be clear but I still get to enjoy the great music.

Zo’s new album SunStorm has been in constant rotation since it dropped earlier this week. If .mp3′s could get scratched I would need to replace this LP already. Word.

The superdupatalented producer has crafted a beautifully cohesive album featuring an exciting list of collaborators including YahZarah, Sy Smith, Jesse Boykins III, Phonte and a whole host of others. This, unlike many other producer-lead albums, sounds so ‘together’ it feels more like a bands album than a multi-artist long player.

The albums opening number ‘Greater Than The Sun’, which features the Phonte is by far my favourite track off SunStorm. Not only is it a beautifully written and produced track and a great way to start any album – it also triples up as a GREAT early morning. This tune will turn your morning blues into power-moves with ease (sh*t, was that a half-rhyme?).

Listen to the track below and then go BUY the album via iTunes. Not putting up a download link (although I’m sure you know where to look for one) because I really think you should go and BUY this record.

Support great music.

I think Chase & Status are better than this song. Not their greatest beat. Vocals from Mali work real nice though. And I like the video – wonder what Jeremy Kyle thinks?

I so need this right now. Been working, went to chill with some homies in a bar (Idris Elba walked in, ordered a beer and sat next to us – dope, right?) and now I’m relaxing to this insanely dope mix put together by the impossibly funky DâM-FunK.

‘The Future Sound of Modern Funk’ was put together by DâM while out in Croatia on tour – it aired today on Mary Ann Hobbs BBC Radio 1 show (which sadly she resigned from last week). This mix is doing it right now, don’t wait – hit play & download below. DâM-FunK each and every.

P.s This was cut up by me, so if ya use it anywhere – do the right thing.

Check the CDQ version of Marsha Ambrosius’ official first single off her DEBUT album Late Nights, Early Mornings. Can’t believe this lady is only on her first album – we’ve waited way too long for this. Glad the time is finally here. Can’t say I love this song as I much as I hope I would, but I’m just happy we’re finally getting some album movement…

Check the full version of ‘Mojo So Dope’, which comes off Cudi’s upcoming album Man on the Moon II which drops October 26th (for now). Recently realised I’m not actually much KiD CuDi fan. I thought I was but I didn’t really like his album and haven’t enjoyed anything he’s dropped recently either. I remain open minded however and will def check out the album when it eventually drops…

In an interview with Playboy, Dr Cornel West talks about working with Prince last year during their time in Montreux. West describes what it was like being around the Purple Yoda and what they did when they weren’t recording…

PLAYBOY: What was it like to record a song with Prince?

WEST: Lord have mercy, that man is a genius of unparalleled vitality, and going into the studio to record something for him was an extraordinary blessing.  But I just love hanging out with the man.  We were together in Montreux last summer.  He did two shows one night, two hours of jazz – Coltrane, Charlie Parker – and then came back with two hours of funk.  Unbelievable.  Afterward he said “Brother West, do you sleep?”  I said, “Well, I try not to.”  He doesn’t sleep at all.  He said, “Let’s spend some time talking.”  First thing we did, we went on top of the hotel and watched some of Obama’s speeches.  Then we had a dialogue for about an hour, then we started talking about music for another hour, and then we talked politics for another hour.  We stayed up until 7:30, eight.  He packed and jumped on his plane.  Stayed up all night.  And another time Michael Steele and I were at a Prince concert together.

PLAYBOY: You and the chairman of the Republican National Committee went to a Prince concert?

WEST: Oh yeah.  Politics can’t stop you from rockin’ to a genius man! [laughs]

P.s And before you wonder why Dr West is being interviewed by Playboy – they often do really great interviews, with really cool/important people. No joke. Lol.

Posted a remix of this song last week, it’s now time for the official video (of the original version). I L-O-V-E this song, unfortunately I can’t enjoy the video until later. But you can, I’m jealous. Enjoy.
