I know I’ve already posted a live X-Tina clip today, but had to post this up. Christina performs the c-l-a-s-s-i-c ‘Genie in a Bottle’, along side ‘What a Girl Wants’ live on the Early Show. Aguilera had one of the best debut songs I can think of, not only was it a great record, but it still sounds fresh and more importantly…appropriate today. Remember this from my school days. Crazy.

The Queen B talks to thisis50.com about her ‘beef’ with Nicki Minaj…
For the last year she has been subliminally taken shots at me. Subliminally taken shots at the other girls in the industry. I mean come on, we read that interview where she said “Being that the other rap chicks in the game ain’t got sh*t to do right now, when I’m by the pool they can feed me grapes”. I remember that sh*t, I keep my ears to the street at all the time. Just because I do my Hollywood thing and you know my Malibu Barbie thing don’t mean my ear isn’t to the streets at all time. The last thing she did that was very subliminal “Did I [inaudible] the Queen?” and Puffy sitting right next to her riding with that bullsh*t?” Come on! We ain’t stupid.
…My thing was, homegirl got a nice little buzz going. It’s obvious I’m who she wants to be like. It’s obvious that she likes me and wants to be like me but she’s not paying this homage.
A lot of people are speaking out against Kim for beefin’ with Nicki Minaj, but isn’t this an age old tradition in Hip Hop? Is different because they’re women? Suddenly it’s bitchy and suddenly it’s Kim ‘being desperate’? The latter may or may not be true, but either way battling emcee’s is something that’s deep rooted in Hip Hop. This isn’t any different. Long as it stays on wax, #notwitter, it’s cool with me. And when I say ‘cool’, I don’t mean I enjoy watching people say negative things about each other, what I mean in – it’s something that has always happened in Hip Hop and so, if this is what this is – cool.
Lastly, Minaj would be foolish not to acknowledge Kim’s influence here. She (and a notable few others) led the way for her to do what she’s doing. I’m slowly, slowly warming to Minaj, her features are cool but I don’t think I could handle a full project. That’s just me though.
In the second part of his interview with Rap-Up, Ne-Yo talks about his acting, his forthcoming movie, Jennifer Hudson & KanYe West. I haven’t watched this yet, but will do soon as I reach home.
If reports are correct, Prince will feature as a guest (and surely, will perform?) on the final Friday Night with Jonathan Ross show. That would be massive. Not only for Ross, but also for us UK Prince fans – can’t remember the last time I saw him on British TV? I really, really hope this is true and confirmed.
However, this is one of those ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’ type news stories. No doubt Jonathan Ross probably has the pulling power, but Prince is so picky about interviews, it’s always hard to fully believe he’s set to make an appearence.
Damn. If this goes down, I may have to go down to the studios and wait outside for him like a proper stan. Excited much?
New track off M.I.A’s upcoming album which drops July 13th. ‘Steppin’ Up’ reminds me of what M.I.A used to sound like back in the day (even though I was never a fan, my friends were, so pretty much know her albums back to front any how). If you’re an M.I.A fan, you’ll probably like this, if you don’t – you probably won’t lol.

This woman’s voice is just incredible. X-Tina proves herself correct with a stunning vocal performance of her new single ‘Not Myself Tonight’. When I see her performing and singing like this, it makes me really want to see her back on top (of the charts etc), because while the female pop market is currently over saturated, there’s only a good few who can actually SING like this.
…And despite what folk saying, I still think this tune is dope.
