Ne-Yo’s new single, ‘Beautiful Monster’, drops June 1st but a snippet of the track just hit the nets – it’s very short, so I’ve only uploaded a stream, check it out.
…I just have one question – WHY? Why is every R&B singer jumping on the euro-dance tip? Need to hear the full track, but this sounds pants.
Drake’s debut album is shaping up to be real, real nice. We posted the radio rip of this track a couple days back, but now it’s time for the full CDQ. I tell you, the use of that Aaliyah sample in this track is beautiful, in fact, I wish it was in there a little more than it is. Really, really like this track.
Today, ‘somehow’ 17 previously unreleased/unfinished tracks recorded by the group found their way online. If the rumours on the interwebs are to be believed ex-member Farrah (‘member her?) leaked the tracks after being ‘rejected’ from a group reunion. Rumours – that’s all that is, I couldn’t comment either way.
BUT what I will say is – there are some real gems in here. Normally bulk leaks are filled with rubbish – but there are some very notable, worthy tracks here. Of course, there are some not-so-great ones too, and ones that sound extremely unfinished, but eh. Beyonce takes centre stage on most songs (her ad-libs are beyond) – but Kelly gets her shine too on a few – both their voices sounds so dope. It’s great to hear those unique harmonies again in general though – definitely one for the fans – download and enjoy. I am…
Unsure what ‘era’ these are from, but as I said – they’re very ‘R&B’, so I assume the bulk are from the Writings on the Wall days (hence the picture) – woop!
Rihanna wowed the crowds in North Wales earlier tonight when she took to the Radio 1 Big Weekend stage. Performing a number of her biggest hits (of which she has many, sometimes I forget!) including ‘Rude Boy’, ‘Umbrella’, ‘Russian Roulette’, ‘Please Don’t Stop the Music’ and more. Peep ‘Russian Roulette’ up top and the rest after the jump.
…Had a bit of a ‘tiff’ with some Rihanna fans (all love) on twitter earlier when I tweeted that Rhi-Rhi sounded awful when singing ‘Russian Roulette’ – they seemingly disagreed and rather passionately so too. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it – please play and let me know in the comment section if I was totally wrong, or if in fact, I heard right and on that song – she sounded abysmal.
Fae Simon will be a name to remember, as she embarks on bringing the underground to the surface. Performing all over London, this soul singer who has been vocally trained in Opera and Jazz released her debut album last year.
Mellowdrama is filled with beautiful lyrics and smooth beats, perfect Sunday morning music with tracks like ‘New Londinium’ (below) and ‘Fly Love.’ She is currently touring Europe with Yarah Bravo on her ‘Good Girls Rarely Make History’ Tour and will be performing at the Lockside Lounge for the Ladies First Show in Camden on 27th May, along with other British female artists. This night is completely overlooked and if you live in London, you should find yourself there.
Her album is available on iTunes – home grown support!
I actually can’t believe (ok, I can) how incredible Kelly sounds here! She sings the heck out of her new single ‘Commander’, which I think pretty much everyone is loving right now. She performed the new single live at BBC Radio 1′s Big Weekend in North Wales, the video hasn’t yet surfaced, but this audio has so press play and listen…
P.s Wait to see what we got coming from our interview with Ms Kelly. Jeeze. I actually can’t believe it.
Man of the moment Tinie Tempah performs his brand new (and quite frankly brilliant) new single ‘Frisky’ at Radio 1′s Big Weekend. Tinie also performed his massive number 1 ‘Pass Out’ – soon as that finds its way on the internets, I’ll post it up.
Alicia Keys was among the stars performing at Radio 1′s Big Weekend yesterday – the soul singer performed ‘No One’ (up top) and ‘Empire State of Mind’ (after the jump). Not entirely sure why she’s not performing ‘Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready)’ but eh. The performances aren’t that different from what we’ve seen previously, but if you’re a fan – def worth a watch.
This isn’t the greatest radio rip, but it’s new Drake and he’s sampling Aaliyah, so thought ya’ll would appreciate the post. If you don’t mind DJ tags, then download below (no stream). Up top Drake covers the latest issue of Billboard, the magazine call him ‘the new face of Hip Hop – would you agree?
What a great to start the weekend! ‘Dear God 2.0′ is the first single to drop off The Roots new album How I Got Over which is scheduled to drop in June. You’ll be happy to know, The Roots’ are BACK! This is fu*king dope, that sample? Black Thought’s voice is just different. Production – The Roots all day.
Have a look at Peter Hadar’s writing session with some members of his band Long Kiss in Public, working on material for Take Off Victoria. Creative Control yet again come through – their videos are amazing.
