Gilles Peterson has apparently been waiting a number of years to be able to play this Cee-Lo track and the other night he finally got his chance. I try to avoid posting radio rips as much as I can, but this is good quality (however does feature a deserved rewind from Mr Peterson). Think this has been online for a couple days, but I only just heard it…
…Such a BIG tune! Cee-Lo is the man, he’s so flipping talented – his career has been so solid; From his Goodie Mobb work, to Gnarles Barkley and to his massively slept on solo material. This song is so dope, it just makes me smile – his voice is so distinctive. Cee-Lo’s currently working on a new solo album, there’s no release date as yet but it is scheduled to drop this year.
Let me know what you think of the track…
Sidenote: If you haven’t already got Cee-Lo’s album Cee-Lo Green…Is The Soul Machine – I actually can’t put into words how much you’re missing. This album is damn near perfect from top to bottom – it has everything. His tune “I’ll Be Around” produced by Timbaland is killer. Get it now!
I didn’t attend Whitney’s London 02 date – simply because I knew it was going to be a shambles. Well, turns out – I was right. A good few homies (who are incredibly reliable sources) went in hopes that Houston would be singing like she did back in the day (despite reading a number of horrendous reviews) but sadly they too were disappointed.
From the calls, texts and tweets I’ve been getting from them, things sounded pretty bleek. And before any stans out there begin crying that ‘they don’t know what they’re talking about’ – the majority of them work in music – be it at a label, management company, PR company or radio. Just some of the things they’ve said or I’ve read (via twitter)…
“She’s not that bad, but saying that about Whitney isn’t that good is it?” – Music Journalist
“so far Whitney gig is akin to being at an extravagant karoake gig with her Houstonship – bum notes, gasps, skipped verses and all.” – Works for prominent radio station
“I’m definitely at a Whitney Houston gig but beyond that I haven’t the faintest idea what’s happening” – Pop Justice
“Whitney’s doing I Will Always Love you so badly that she’s missing notes on purpose to make a joke of it. AMAZING” – Pop Justice
“People are starting to walk out…” – Works for prominent radio station
“People really aren’t impressed, even the big Whitney fans” – Twitter
Sad, sad, sad times. I just don’t know what to say – this isn’t a good thing and I get absolutely no satisfaction from posting any of this but I just feel it needs to be said - I truly believe fans (yes, you and me alike) are being fooled into buying into nostalgia at this point. Whitney Houston must know that her voice isn’t up to standard and her people (management, PR etc) must know. Moreover, the man who discovered her, Clive Davis (one of my idols FYI) must know that Houston’s vocals sound strained. I just do not understand why she’s on tour – it can’t be about money, she has plenty.
Would love to hear from those of you who attended last night. Be honest and feel free to correct me if I am genuinely misinformed.
Update: Judging by the comments from fans who attended last night – we weren’t wrong.
Peace, Love & Whitney Houston

Sidenote: I must add that I also saw a lot of comments saying she was doing brilliant – as much as I find it hard to believe - I can’t deny that I saw people tweeting that. However, I know that my peoples, who were there, aren’t bullshitting – so I’m sticking with them on this one.
Never really been a fan of Trey Songz, but I’m interested to see how he does here, so am about to press play. I also know a lot of you are fans of his, so thought I’d help you out a bit.
…MTV Unplugged is one of my favourite MTV series, why they don’t do more is beyond me! Not only is it one of my favourite series, it’s also MTV last remaining link to MUSIC part of it’s name. Smh.
Produced by Chad Hugo, “Love Letter To The Beat” is rumoured to appear on Lupe’s upcoming third album. As for the track itself, I quite like it – feelin’ that funk inspired bass groove. Keys’ verse is real nice, glad she’s not just singing the hook. I wouldn’t be mad if this found its way on the album.
Update: Apparently this track was recorded for Alicia’s As I Am album, but never made it – somehow Lupe got his hands on it. Explains why she features so heavily. Still, I like it.
Peace, Love & Lupe Fiasco

P.s No SoundCloud stream b/c Atlantic will just dead it.
8 years ago today the world lost an incredible talent. Today we remember Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes.
The video above is of Left Eye’s best and most legendary raps, after the jump, watch part 2, 3, 4 & 5. These verses are like audio scrap books for me – they take me back to when I was in school and when my big sister first introduced me to TLC. The last few parts feature her solo material and guest appearances too.
I’d never heard of Mansions on the Moon before, the homie Andrew (aka the music dealer lol) shot it over to me the other night and said I should check them out. I hit play on their new video “She Makes Me Feel” and loved what I heard. PinBoard being PinBoard (an inclusive place for all things dope) I thought I had to share with you guys – I think you’ll like it too! They’re rocking that 80′s, electro pop vibe.
I don’t know much about the band, but I do know they have a mixtape coming out hosted by DJ Benzi & Diplo, no word on when it’s dropping but I got my ears locked on these guys now so soon as it is – I will let you know.
After the jump you can check out their EPK video, which features appearances from Malice (Clipse), Shae & Chad Hugo (N*E*R*D) and a couple others you may recognise.
Should have really named this “One To Watch”, but I guess that’s implied
Let me know what you think of the band and the track/video…
Christina spoke in depth about her new album, the meaning behind it’s title, Bionic, the collaborations that feature on it, what she tried to achieve by making it and her upcoming world tour.
…Wow, she didn’t take a breath during that interview (lol).
Update: After the jump, check out X-Tina’s new album tracklist…
Remember we posted DTMD’s dope EP back in February? You guys loved it up, don’t blame you – it still gets a lot of plays over on these ends. Check out the duo’s brand new video for “You” – which just happens to be one of my favourite cuts off the EP.
…This video is mad fresh and proves that you don’t need a massive budget to execute a good video which works for the track. I’m definitely a DTMD fan and highly recommend, if you haven’t already, checking out their EP The Basics (it’s free) – can’t stress how fresh it is.
Initially I wasn’t sold on this track and I still think it’s far from their best, but I can’t lie – hearing the full version a couple times through my big speakers – it’s pretty decent! “Stadium music” indeed. The bands new album Nothing dropes June 15th.
I’ve never been a fan of M.I.A – a lot of people are shocked when I say that – but it’s the truth. Aside from having a few tracks that I like (“Paper Planes” being the main one), the stuff she’s put out has never really spoken to me. This track, ain’t changing that. I know you M.I.A fans will not like me saying it, but this is just not good – it’s literally just noise (lol).
…When’s that new Santogold record coming out anyways?
Hmmm, I think a lot of people (radio) will love this one – not sure I do just yet. I’m a big fan of B.o.B and so, I’ll definitely give this one a few more listens. His flow on this is still dope though.
After announcing a string of festival appearances and supporting other artists in the UK, Drake is finally headlining his own show. On Monday July 12th 2010, Drizzy will playing London’s 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Tickets are £25.50 in advance (plus booking fee) and go on sale Friday April 23rd via livenation.co.uk. The show (featuring special guests) will be Drake’s first headlining date in the UK.
This is definitely good news, I do feel that the ticket price is a little excessive given that this guy hasn’t even released an album just yet, but regardless – I have no doubt this will be a sell out show – we’ll be there. Will you?
It’s in no way their best track, but you know, this track is pretty ‘fun’. Nothing really revolutionary here and yea, I guess I am expecting (a lot) more from N*E*R*D’s upcoming album Nothing (June 15th), but for the most part – it’s alright.
Let us know what you think in the comment section…
Peace, Love & N*E*R*D

The folk over at TMZ caught a rare sighting of L-Boogie and asked if we were going to be hearing any new music from her any time soon, to which she replied “yea, possibly…Maybe”.
Miss Hill looked kinda ok, not as, um, ‘eccentric’ as we’ve seen her look in recent years – she sounded good too. As for the new music? I’m not holding my breath – if she came back correct, it would definitely be a great thing – but it’s gonna be bloody difficult for her; Not least because her last album was so damn perfect, It’d be near impossible for anyone to top it. We live in hope though.
