As you probably know, I’m a little behind with the posts today. Been away from the TinterNet, busy working. So, gonna quickly do a catch up before getting on to some real ish.
I love this track, so was happy to hear that it was getting the video treatment. The video for this is exactly how I imaged it would be – I like it a lot. It’s very Theophilus London < he won’t mind me saying that haha! The track is available as a free download via the Green Label Sound
It’s bitterly cold in London Town today, but never fear – Muhsinah is here! The Grammy nominated Golden Girl has kindly dropped a brand new track inspiringly titled “Summer” to ease the freeze…
I know I keep repeating myself when it comes to Muhsinah, but I just love, love, love her. Everything about her – her voice, her words, her instrumentation – everything. This has warmed my cockles right up. (International readers now asking “your what?”)
The new album The Oscillations: Triangle is out now via iTunes.
I’m not Kelly’s biggest fan, but I always give her props when she deserves it. Likewise, I will be critical when she delivers a shambolic performance like this. Good Lord, her vocals were all kinds of messy. I actually really love the tone of Kelly’s voice, but can’t be denied she’s never been strong live – but this is way worse then she normally is. Sounds like her voice was just worn out, which I’ll allow for – hopefully it gets better, soon.
Peace, Love & Kelly Rowland

P.s I hate that this track has grown on my so much lol!
Can you imagine going to a concert and the surprise guest being Stevie Wonder? WTF?! Check Legend and the Legend singing “Ordinary People” in Las Vegas. Wow.
Not sure if many will dig this, but I f*cking love it. Dessa (of the Doomtree collective) with her haunting words and vocals deliveres something that really stands out. Not just any next song, but something you want/need to listen to over and over. Sheeeit.
Last night we went down to Proud Galleries in Camden to attend the first iLuvLive event of 2010. Even though the line-up was crazy strong (and there’ll be a separate post/footage on all the other performing acts later), the main attraction for me was seeing Jessie J live.
We featured this Essex soul singer as ‘One to Watch’ last year and with good reason. Recently signing a major deal with Universal Music/Island Records and penning songs for the likes of Miley Cyrus (“Party In the USA”) and Chris Brown (“I Need This”) – 2010 is set to be her year.
Taking time out from writing and recording her debut album in the States, Jessie took to the stage, for the first time in a year, (without her labels knowledge, oops) and blew the roof off. It was clear that most in attendance was there to see her also – she got the loudest cheer going on and the loudest cheer coming off.
Check out her impossibly powerful vocals during a performance of her song “Big White Room”. I have a couple more videos of her (and the other talented singers) coming up in a bit, but for now – enjoy this incredible talent.
I’m actually surprised. I think “Welcome to Vegas” is pretty decent. Didn’t think I would as most of what drops from Milian is pretty lame. It’s far from the greatest track I’ve ever heard – but I see what they’re trying to achieve. That vibe’d out, laid back, synthesized feel is working on me. Can’t lie. As for “I’m Sexy” – I think it’s good Christina is experimenting and trying to be more daring – I just don’t think she can pull it off too tough. Sorry.
Peace, Love & Christina Milian

Sade’s brand new video for “Solider of Love”, the first single of her new album (of the same name). We welcome you back with open arms. Really like the video and how it captures the mood of the song (which I still can’t get enough of). The fact that Sade has not aged since my Mum first played her to me when I was like…6 is straight up crazy.
I like the track, it’s got a nice groove to it – feels good. I find it hilarious that this dudes new album will be called Les Is More when it’ll mark his third album in just two years! Who does that? Dunno what he’s trying to achieve. I liked the last album a lot more than I liked the first. Interested to hear the new stuff. I continue to have a love/hate view on Ryan Leslie’s music – great producer, just not convinced he’s a great artist.
Update: Oh, look – another track just dropped lol. If this dude ends up like Usher (new leak every day) I will have to place an embargo on him too haha. I like the new cut though, those synths are doing the right thing.
“By the People: The Election of Barack Obama” is a fascinating, insightful and spine tingling documentary of the 2008 US Presidential election campaign. The film, uniquely shot along side the President, captures some of the most important moments of the campaign – both the highs and the lows. The election team, more so than the running candidate, are put centre stage. From campaign managers, to senior advisers, from script writers, to the volunteers (some as young as 9!) – this film gives them the chance to shine.
“By the People: The Election of Barack Obama” is brilliant. The fly-on-the-wall insight allows a real sense of what it was like for everyone during those months leading up to the results. As Brits, we watched and engaged from a far – understanding that this wasn’t our election or our politics – but also fully aware that the President of the United States of America can affect us massively on an international level. So to be able to relive this moment in history so close up and personal was great.
Highly recommended viewing.

P.s Unsure if readers from outside of the UK can watch this on the BBC iPlayer.
