It’s been almost two years since Eric Lau dropped his debut album New Territories (an album which still firmly holds its place on my iPhone), and for those of us who have been eagerly waiting for some new music – the time has finally come. Well, almost. Lau’s new album EP Kilawatt: V2 will be hitting our ear drums in February 2010; But for now we have 4 preview tracks to tide us over. Muhsinah and Oddisee feature on two of the songs…
They are all sounding amazing! Muhsinah sounds so, so, so good on “Always Will”, wow! Really cannot wait for this now – it’s been a minute since the last one – so my anticipation levels are high. After hearing these snippets though, I’m definitely more excited than anxious. Great music.
A lot of people still don’t know about New Territories, I really recommend you check it out – it’s a really beautiful piece of work featuring some really great artists.
Update: Mr Lau has kindly informed/corrected me – Kilawatt: V2 is not an album, it’s an EP. He promises “a lot more [music] coming this year”. Still good news regardless.
Peace, Love & Eric Lau

P.s The tracks will play though, or just hit the >> button to skip.
That electro, 80′s throwback sound is working for me right now. Really feelin’ this track. Grown folk music, that’s what I call this haha. This guys voice always impresses me – it’s mellow, but expressive and he can jam over the most abstract beats. You can purchase this track at which ever price you think it deserves by clicking ‘download’. Support good independent music.
Super talented, emerging soul star Rox just dropped her first music video for her single “My Baby Left Me”. The song is great and the video is cute too (shouts to Emil). Watch out for more of ROX on PinBoard soon!
The homie Kevin Lanre just aired the second episode of his Street | Talk NY Edition series. The ‘Street’ section picks up where the first left off: Healthcare in America. Where as the ‘Talk’ section features up-and-coming entrepreneur Phillip T. Annand of The Award Tour (a very dope brand/blog – if you haven’t already, definitely recommend you check out what they do).

Really enjoying this series. The ‘Street’ portion of the series is quite engaging. It’s also great to hear the young talent emerging from across the pond in the ‘Talk’ section. Expect more of Street | Talk NY Edition to come.
I missed this the other night – check Miss Keys on the Jonathan Ross show. After the jump you can see her performance of “Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart”.
True story: I fancied listening to Jade’s It’s My Heart, Cookie EP just now, because I haven’t heard it in a while and suddenly remembered she dropped me an email earlier this week with some new stuff. Oops!
As many of you know we’ve been massive supporters of Jade’s for a minute now. We featured her as ‘One to Watch’ early last year, when she released her EP that even til’ today remains shockingly dope – no hype. Anyways, she shot over a couple remixes for us to check out, one of which was produced by the homie Melo-X…
I have to say, these tracks as they are, are damn near perfect. But I always like hearing re-workings and new interpretations of songs I love, and so for those reasons – I’m diggin’ both of these remixes. Plus, Melo-X on anything sounds great in my opinion. The remixes come off Jade’s upcoming ITMH Remix EP, which should be dropping any minute now.
The 11th annual NRJ Music Awards took place in Cannes over the weekend and saw the likes of Rihanna, Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland (& David Guetta) and Black Eyed Peas take to the stage. Beyonce was awarded the ‘NRJ Award of Honour’ (above), which was presented by producer Pharrell Williams. Check all the aforementioned performances after the jump!

P.s Nope, Pharrell did not feel to switch up his outfit lol
This is really dope. Pharrell says some really insightful and truthful things about the music business, his career and a whole heap of other things. It’s kinda on the long side (40 mins or so) but I’d highly recommend you sit and watch it.
New Contributor: Hi I’m L.A.B and I like to bug out to beats. Expect a lot more of me on PinBoard from here on!
An immediate liking was taken to JimiJames, which is rare when it comes to female singers. Considering she has been around since 2006 it’s slightly annoying she has not blown up bigger. When I heard her music it was that first agreeable nod to then just straight buggin’ out. Hailing from L.A and releasing her first album titled The Truth she is now set to drop So Janky and after hearing her Mixtape it’s sure to be fire!
JimiJames – “Choose Her”
JimiJames – “Bitchin’”
Her vocals nicely compliment the “grttipop” sound, as she describes it. Her music sways from head banging electro-funk like “Bitchin” to some straight R&B like “Undressed”. Undoubtedly her style shows through her music and nearly every song makes you move. As I said, a rarity! Definitely one to keep your pupil on. Let’s hope her talent reaches out far and she has longevity.
Goto JimiJames’ myspace for loads of free music including a hot mixtape or two.
Sick and locked up in her apartment, Melanie Fiona felt to do her part for the people of Haiti by singing the song Rihanna chose to sing for that very cause. Wow. Now this is how singers should sing (this song).
