I’m fully aware this track has been around for a minute. Hell, I’ve been loving it for a few – but I just realised (upon listening to it for the zillionth time) that I have never blogged about it. That ain’t cool – hence this post.

Jose James, one of the defining voices of modern jazz teamed up with Flying Lotus (again) and together produced “Made For Love” – a moody, sombre love song which satisfies every musical bone in my body. To put it bluntly: this is my sh*t. On each listen I fall in love with something new – be it the digitalised production, the distant piano chords or that simple (yet necessary) ‘boom clap, boom clap’ that drones away in the back. Stunning in all it’s contemporary glory.

“Made For Love” comes off James’ upcoming Blackmagic EP which drops February 1st 2010.

Love. Love. Love. Love. Love this. As I said, I’m a fan of Ms Badu’s – I enjoy her experiments, as well as her more ‘traditional’ neo-soul stuff. This I believe falls into the former category. So, I’m happy. Lil’ Wayne’s verse was pretty hot too – didn’t know what to expect with him on an Erykah record – but it works. Bilal as ever provides those soulful ad-libs. All rounder, this.

People are always asking us “What have you guys been up to?” so we felt like it was the perfect opportunity to answer the question w/ a visual. “Beautiful People” is not just another video, it’s some insight into what’s been going on in our lives. This includes rehearsals, live performances, and spending time with some of our FAVORITE people: family, friends, and fans. A lot of artists have a different definition of what ‘beautiful’ means. These are good times with the most important people in our lives and they represent the REAL definition of beauty.

Firstly – I’ve been waiting for a new record from this girls. Their debut was a solid R&B album – so many tunes on there. Secondly – I pray their new music isn’t all like this. I want to tell all American artists: Europeans don’t even like that Euro-pop sound you guys are playing with so, please, STOP! Ladies, stick to well written R&B songs – ya’ll rock them too well.
