I’m not sure how many are familiar with Daru Jones. If you’re a fan/follower of his work, then you know exactly what this is and how dope the content is. If you’re new to him or don’t know much about him – he’s one of the most talented musicians in Hip Hop/Soul music. I say that with no exaggeration – he’s pretty much worked with everyone including Talib Kweli, Slum Village, Bilal and Black Milk (to name a few), his skills as a producer and drummer are bar none.
Spirit & Soul-Hop is Daru’s 3rd sampler and features songs produced by himself and remixes of songs recorded by artists such as Mushinah, Rena, Kissey Asplund, Phonte, Jesse Boykins III and more. Spirit & Soul-Hop is packed to the brim with stunning beats, soulful vocals and real Hip Hop. Find the tracklist after the jump.
This is your winter warmer right here.
Peace, Love & Daru Jones

Stevie Wonder broke in to tears as he performed a tribute to Michael Jackson at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 25th Anniversary yesterday. Performing along side John Legend, Stevie sang the MJ classic “The Way You Make Me Feel”. While clearly emotional throughout the entire song, at one point, he had to stop as his emotions got the better of him. However, always the consummate performer, he soldiered through and delivered a moving, soulful rendition of one of the greatest songs ever written.
Wow. That was actually quite difficult to watch. I’ve said it many, many times before, my all time top 3 artists are Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Prince. So to see Stevie that emotional while honouring Michael Jackson is crazy to me.
You have to remember, these guys were not only collaborators, and fellow musicians, but also real friends. Both signed to Motown in the 60′s as kids, they practically grew up together. So it’s not hard to imagine how difficult that performance was for Mr Wonder(ful).

P.s Michael Jackson released Thriller exactly 27 years ago today. Damn.

I’m sure that cover is gonna raise a few eyebrows. Both Chris Brown & Drake cover the newly resuscitated VIBE Magazine.
Hit the jump to check Drake’s cover.
Who’s do you prefer, and why?

New track from Mr Raymond…
Usher Feat Rico Love – “She Got It”
I’m liking this quite a bit actually. Feelin’ the funky, retro R&B feel it’s got to it. Would like to hear more of this type of Usher on the new (now further delayed) album Raymond Vs Raymond.

One of my favourite emcee’s just dropped a brand new mixtape, so I’m good. Mixed and hosted by Rhettmatic, this tape featuresand a whole host of other dope artists. It also boasts production credits from Cook Classics, Black Milk, 6 Sense and more. Bascially, what I’m trying to tell you is that this is the sh*t right here and you need it in your life.
Buff1 – most definitely one of the hottest rappers to pick up a mic in a minute. His flow always impresses and moreover, the dude actually has something to say. Damn. There’s Only 1 is fast becoming a classic.

FlyLo is incredible, we know this. But what he does on this Lil’ Wayne track simply blows my mind. He takes Weezy’s “I Feel Like Dying” and spins it on it’s head, creating something truly…insane.
Lil’ Wayne x Flying Lotus – “I Feel Like Dying” / Instrumental
Whenever I listen to Flying Lotus I always find myself asking ‘how the f*ck does he do that?’ – the sounds he produces and the atmosphere he creates with his music is something that’s truly unique to him. This haunting rendition of an already (kinda) crazy track is, superb.
Also as an added bonus, I’ve included a cut, which dropped a while back, of FlyLo taking on Wayne’s “Robo Tussing”
Bonus: Lil’ Wayne x Flying Lotus – “Robo Tussin” / Instrumental

I can sorta imagine J-Lo being quite a difficult person to work with/interview etc – but she comes across really quite good in this. I got love for Jenny from the Block still.

Now as many of you guys know, I don’t really post anything on 50 Cent. Nothing against the dude, he’s just not the kinda artist I’m in to. But I had to post this coz it’s probably one of the strangest interviews I’ve seen in a minute.
Firstly, Tyra cops a feel of Fiddy and then she notices some cash in his back pocket. Now, you or I may carry a wallet with like £10 or £20 (on a good day lol) in it. But yea, ol’ 50 Cent is kinda different – he carries around $25,000 in cash with him
…Oh, then she gets 50 to spit water out his mouth?
WTF?

Love to Amelia over at PMOI for sharing this. And I co-sign, a great video featuring some incredible artists, but not the lady featuring on the track? Don’t understand why Fatima wasn’t in there? C’mon! Either way, love the video, love the song, love Fatima’s vocals. It’s all love.
