Dec 2009 31

Friends and Family, today is the last day of 2009 and the decade as a whole. I just wanted to wish you all the very best for the coming year, I hope all your hopes, dreams and ambitions come into fruition. I have every reason to believe that all that you wish for will be realised.

I also wanted to use this time to say, how truly and honestly, thankful I am for all of your continued support. 2009 has been PBB’s most successful year. We’re approaching our second birthday and the site has seen confident and constant growth. I can only put that on you and your dedication to what we do here. I know that in 2009 there are a lot of blogs/websites out there all doing their respective things, but you guys choose to come here and for that, ‘I thank you’ doesn’t seem to quite cut it, but again – THANK YOU!

2010 is going to be monumental for PinBoard. I won’t go into too much detail right now, but I promise you, you will not be disappointed. While the content on the site will remain credible, dope and exclusive, a lot of other things will be changing, starting with a complete redesign! I wish I could show you the mock ups, because they look insane – but alas, I will hold out. Other than that, expect new writers and contributors, guest bloggers (very excited about this!), more exclusive interviews (we already have FIVE exclusive interviews lined up for 2010) and a whole host of other great additions. I’m stupidly excited – and I’m sure you guys will love it!

I’ve said it a million times before, but while others choose to focus on ‘hits’ and ‘stats’ – it’s never something I’ve been into. Blogging and running this site is something I love to do and if only 3 people came here every day, I’d still continue and be happy with it. The fact that hundreds of thousands of you come to PinBoard month on month – surprises and moves me still. Creating a blog with no actual aim in sight, no plan, no thought, no pretence of where it may take me and end up with what PinBoard has become – it’s just beyond.

With that said, I would once again like to THANK all our loyal, dedicated and amazing readers and followers. I’d also like to big up all the record labels, PR companies, press agencies, management companies/teams, managers, agents and everyone else who has made this year so brilliant for us.

To all the other blogs, sites, forums etc who have supported either me personally or PinBoard as a whole – THANK YOU! Thank you for posting up a piece we ran and/or an interview we did. Thank you for adding us to your blog roll and thank you for crediting us. I hope in 2010 we can continue to support each others and who knows, maybe come together for a collaboration of some sort. I would like to give a special shout out to the UK blogs who have worked extremely hard this year to make their mark and be taken ‘seriously’ in the music industry. I know who you are, you know who are. We worked hard this year and it’s paying off.

And of course I’d like to thank all the artists who have supported us, provided us with great material and most importantly their time. This year has seen a record number of interviews on the site. I’ve got the chance to meet and talk with artists I have loved, admired and listened to for a lifetime. As well as artists who have really emerged over the past year or so. THANK YOU!

I couldn’t end this without saying a maaaaaassssive BIG UP to my PinBoard team Shan (Fantastic*nt) Phearon and Shernay Edwards. You guys have made most of the video-interviews we did this past year possible – can’t thank you enough! You’re both super talented and super cool – much love.

Much love to my family and real friends for just being you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

2010 HERE WE COME!

Peace, Love & THANK YOU!

Fashawn says:

Just wanted to thank everybody for their support in 2009. I couldn’t have been asked for a better group of colleagues, fans, and team to help get my music out to the masses. I’m gonna drop this project I actually wrote and recorded in a week while living in LA last summer before I did “The Antidote”. I chose to hold off on it for a while, but feel 2010 is the perfect time to let my fans hear it. Here’s a little taste of it. Shout outs to Green Lantern for lacing me with instrumentals, to Large Pro for helping me get what is almost impossible to get and to one of the best poets to ever live who inspired me to do what i do. Look for more music, collabs and shows for 2010. God Bless and Thanks again.

Fashawn – “Memory Lane”

Looking forward to hearing new music from this dude in 010.

Remember we featured Sophia Fresh waaaaay back when? They dropped that stupidly ill track featuring KanYe? It was called “What It Is”? They then dropped their mixtape, which was kinda aiiight still. Well, check out their latest offering…

Sophia Fresh – “Never Leave”

Nothing on “What It Is” (that tune is too big!), but I can fuxx with this. It’s nothing too special, but a nice R&B tune nonetheless. I think these girls could actually come with something pretty cool – they got potential I thinks.

I’m not generally a fan of this type of R&B, but even I can’t deny this track. The video sound ain’t great, but it’s good to see these three do this track on one stage.

Haven’t heard anything from Tweet since “Hey Baby” back in August 08, so naturally I got a lil’ excited to see this track drop. Supposedly a new song off her upcoming album Love, Tweet

Tweet – “Love Again”

Oh, how I have missed this lady! “Love Again” is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Tweet – soulful, passionate, melodic, honest and simply beautiful. Not her best song, but one that I will be putting on repeat until’ I hear more.

Peace, Love & Tweet

2009 will always (for me at least) be remembered for the year that the world lost the greatest entertainer that ever lived. Michael Jackson’s sudden and shocking passing still has me in some weird state of shock. It often hits me during one of his songs, or music videos or some type of documentary that he’s longer with us. Crazy.

“This Is It” was the single released to accompany Michael’s docu-movie of the same name. It’s video (which I didn’t even know was coming) has been directed by the legendary Spike Lee. It’s a moving and intelligent tribute to the King of Pop.

I really enjoyed watching this.

The Pussycats Dolls are over. Nicole is on the comeback (apprently). Check this Neptunes produced, Pharrell assisted cut…

Nicole Scherzinger Feat Pharrell Williams – “I M.I.S.S U”

Lemme firstly just say, that beat is ill. Like, classics Neptunes sh*t. I like. As for Nicole and the track in general – I quite like it. I’m not really a fan of Nicole as an artist – I don’t think she’s offered up anything interesting previously – but this is definitely a great start. She owes a lot to that beat.

This was the only thing I really, really wanted to turn my computer on for on Christmas Day. I knew it was dropping on the 25th, but my Mama’s cooking was just too much for me to give in temptation. I’ve just pressed play, so can’t say too much on all of the 5 tracks, but I’m a huge, huge fan of J*DaVey, so am pretty sure I’ll enjoy this.

Tracklist after the jump…

This is cool. Theo takes us through the making of This Charming Mixtape – hands down one of my favourite mixtapes of this year. I can honestly say I have listened to this mixtape this entire year. It droppped in January and I’m yet to bore of it.

The homie Theophilus did not disappoint. Looking for to 2010.
