Admittedly, I’ve been a bit late when it comes to McLean. I’ve been hearing good things about him for a minute, but a life of a blogger being what it is, sometimes ya just slip (a little lol). Anyways, I just watched the video for his new single “Broken” and say that I was impressed would be quite the understatement. This track is serious and his voice is killin’ me right now. I’m definitely feelin’ this one – he now has my full attention. I hope to hear more real soon (hint to the label, eh?).

Tinchy Stryder features on the remix. “Broken” is out November 9th.

Peace, Love & McLean

P.s You can also hear McLean War Child’s Young Soul Rebels – “I Got Soul” which is released October 19th.

Ever since I saw Tyson’s movie “Tyson” I have thought of him completely differently. That movie, which I recommend everyone sees, actually got me ‘understanding’ what he was about and why he is the way he is. It’s a compelling movie.

This interview looks deep. Loosing his daughter in the tragic way he did is unthinkable. Truly heartbreaking.

Hova told NME that Michael Jackson sang back-up on his track “Girls, Girls, Girls” off his Blueprint album, saying:

“He was on my song ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’, singing these background vocals and I didn’t even put his name on it”

During the interview, Jay also spoke on the King of Pop’s passing…

“I try to look for the meaning in things that happen, and it was a tragedy that Michael Jackson passed away, especially for his kids,” he said. “But on the other side, I think it gave Michael a chance to be celebrated for the genius he was without all the other stuff in the way, and I don’t know if that would ever have happened had he been alive.”

Now, I’ve heard this track a zillion times before, but after hearing about this I re-listened to it and I cannot hear a hint of Michael. Like, nothing. I don’t hear a single lick that sounds remotely like him. I’m gonna need more evidence. Lol.

If true, it’s very, very cool.

Peace, Love, Jay-Z & MJ

rhea

This is quite something. N.E.R.D have announced that their new album, Instant Gratification, will feature a new female member by the name of Rhea…

“Musically, we’re just somewhere else [with her],” Pharrell told MTV News. “The music is now very 3-D. It’s something you have to hear. But you’ll see. We’re definitely somewhere else. I want to leave that impact moment for when you purchase your download and you purchase your CD. The music is very three-dimensional. We’re just really excited. We feel like N.E.R.D. has always been the punks of hip-hop and the outcasts of alternative music — just a little different. But this time, we’re taking no prisoners.”

The Neptunes artist explained Rhea might be petite, at just 5-foot-4, but her booming voice and her classical background blend in with the genre-bending trio of N.E.R.D., also including Chad Williams and Shae.

“Now you have this little Tinkerbell that’s just stepped in and has been amazing,” he said. “It’s made it a fun process. We can go in so many more directions, because we have the vocal support.

Wow, pretty big news for the group, huh? I think this is ultimately a good thing though. While the band are dope as they are, I do think adding a new dimension like this will work pretty well. She looks kinda hot too, which is always a good thing.

Peace, Love & N.E.R.D

Jennifer Lopez returns. Pitbull helps out on the Neptunes produced joint…

Jennifer Lopez Feat Pitbull – “Fresh Out the Oven”

Ok, so J-Lo came kinda hard, right? Damn. She ain’t playing, been out the game for a minute and drops this? I kinda like, it’s not the dopest track she’s ever dropped but I reckon this is pretty hot! She dropped the single on her new, secret myspace under the name Lola – hmmm?

Whitney Houston’s European promotional campaign is defintiely in full effect. The diva performed “Million Dollar Bill” live on a French TV show…

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djkjtV5ZC8o]

She looks incredible. She sounds it too. No denying it sounded like she was struggling towards the end, but we all know ‘the voice’ has changed. I really love this track, it’s grown on me A LOT since I first heard it. After her performance she sits down for a lil chat where she corrects a French dude when he calls her ‘Queen of R&B’ haha…

Whitney’s new album I Look To You is out now.

Sidenote 1: I know one person who will find Whitney Houston sitting next to Karl Lagerfeld a lil’ too much!

Sidenote 2: SMH @ Lilly Allen sitting at that table.

Sidenote 3: 2010 tour? Ha. You know where I’ll be.

What do you get when you cross The Noisettes with Kanye West? Wild Young Heartbreaks, of course, a sick mix which mashes up the acapellas from the UK rockers album Wild Young Hearts with the samples, and ideas from Ye’s 808s and Heartbreak remade into new beats. “Is that gonna be like, all in my crotch?”

PinBoard sat down with Mr Solo Dolo while he was in town. In this (rather cool) interview, Cudi speaks on his love/hate relationship with blogs, the pressures of early fame, being misinterpreted, upsetting his fans, his relationship (or lack thereof)  with his ‘friends’ and mother and much more…

A very safe dude, who came through with some real insightful answers. This is only a portion of what we discussed. Who knows, maybe we’ll release some more soon. Cudi’s debut album Man On The Moon: The End of Day is out now.

Peace, Love & KiD CuDi
