Fam,
Just a quick message to let you know that the PinBoard family are heading on holiday for the next week to celebrate my (Speeakz) birthday. Yup, another year old and another year wise (I hope!). The crew and I decided to pack up and leave London and see this born day somewhere nice and…HOT! London’s weather is not serious at the moment (winter is well and truly here), so some much needed vitamin C is in order.
We won’t be gone for too long, a week or so only. So, hol’ tight. I won’t be posting much (if anything at all) in that week, but on my return we have three (yes, THREE) exclusive interviews to share with you. Yup.
Thanks again for all your support and see you on the other side!
Peace & Love

New Wale featuring John Mayer, produced by Mark Ronson…
Wale feat John Mayer – “Letter” (Prod. Mark Ronson)
This track will not appear on Attention Deficit which drops November 10th. Feels like I’ve been waiting for this album for the longest time – not necessarily a bad thing. I like an album to take its time.

Got happy when I saw this…
Many of you know Res as a member of the group Idle Warship (along with Graph Nobel and Talib Kweli). Others may have heard her incredible debut album How I Do or heard her vocals featured on various releases in the past decade. Preparing a return to the music scene, Res has released this cover version of “The Metro,” a song originally by 80’s new wave band Berlin. Res’ version of “The Metro” is featured on Mick Boogie Presents Idle Warship’s Party Robot mixtape (dropping later today) and is a reflection of new music from Res, who will also drop her upcoming EP Black Girls Rock very soon.
Res – “The Metro”
If you don’t own Res’ debut album How I Do – I don’t know what to say. You failed. Hard. Geddit asap!
Peace, Love & Res

DJ Jazzy Jeff just dropped a new mixtape in honour of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Twisting the title of his debut album with Will Smith (He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper) the mixtape goes through all of MJ’s classics and then some! This is going straight onto my iPhone.
Enjoy!
Tracklist after the jump…

As you know, I’m not the biggest Keri Hilson fan (despite that I’ve been rinsing her new track with Timbaland), but I’m always open when it comes to new music – this track comes off a German movie soundtrack (Hilson’s getting her European swag on, I see)…
Keri Hilson – “I Like”
…It’s not half bad. It’s very Euro, but not so much that I hate it. The track is catchy, I guess that’s the point – so eh, I kinda like it still.
Peace, Love & Keri Hilson

New Mary J track taken off the Precious soundtrack…
Mary J. Blige – “I See In Colour”
I love this song, Mary’s voice is just amazing. Especially when she sings these types of ballads. It’s probably not right to say this, but Mary singing about ‘pain’ is Mary at her best (LOL!). Furthermore, I cannot wait to see this movie – hearing so many good things about it – the lead actress in it is even stirring up some Oscar buzz.

We dropped a snippet of this track last week, here goes the full CDQ version off Timbo’s Shock Value 2…
Timbaland Feat Drake – “Say Something”
…Not sure I’m feelin’ this one, maybe I need to listen to it a lil’ more?

Too many classics from Sade’s catalogue, but this has always been one of my favourite songs of hers. Just beautiful.
Perfect soundtrack to your Sunday I reckon.

Still like this track, but the video? Damn, they could have come better than this, surely. Video comes a bit late too, right?

I really have lost track of all the Ne-Yo songs that surface almost daily, but this one caught my ears. Produced by Stargate, here’s “Sometimes”…
Ne-Yo – “Sometimes”
I’m unashamedly a big Ne-Yo fan – I think his song writing skills are beyond incredible and better than most of his contemporaries by a mile. I also think he comes up with some really amazing melodies, this track really emphasises that fact. It’s a beautiful mid-tempo track with just a real smooth, minor-chord melody. Liking it a lot.
Update: As the homie in the comment section rightly pointed out – this track is also on Mary J Blige’s Growing Pains album titled “Fade Away”. I really ignored that album, so totally missed it. Thanks for the heads up. I do still prefer this version however.
Peace, Love & Ne-Yo
