There have been tons of revolutionary products and technologies that have shaped and changed our lives over the past 10 years or more. And in my opinion one of the greatest ones thus far has been the invent of Spotify. It’s one of the most genius pieces of software around and one that I really couldn’t live without (now). The ability to stream music, as though it’s already stored on your computer, for free is just fu*king amazing and a must-have for any music fiend like me.

…Anyways, I digress. SO the next big step was the application for the iPhone which no one was sure would be approved. The Spotify business model is a little too close for comfort for Apple. The abilty to not only stream music, but also store it on your phone and listen while not connected to the internet – so you can kiiiiinda understand their trepidation.

But alas, it has been approved. Apple has finally given the Spotify application the green light, allowing users to stream music on their handsets. The application will be free, but will require the users to have a premium Spotify subscription, which will cost £10. “The Swedish music streaming service is looked on as a rival to Apple’s iTunes store because of its comprehensive, free library of millions of songs”.

I’m a geek, so for me, lover of Spotify and owner of iPhone – this is great news! I’m stupidly (and I mean that) excited about this. I’m not a fan of subscriptions, but for this, I shall be signing up.

Such a dork.

Peace, Love & Spotify

  1. Looks great. Quick question – does the app run in the background? i.e. can I listen to music via Spotify whilst browsing the web or checking my email?

  2. May says:

Thanks for the heads up! Will be a great app.
